Damn straight. Why are extra-legal non-governmental organizations allowed to have such control over anyone. You can be denied the ability to purchase a house unless you agree to giving up your rights as a property owner.

Do I need a friggin’ sarcasm tag? HOA’s are for fascists and those who like to tell others how to live.

HOA’s are for fascists and those who like to tell others how to live.

Then why are the anti-HOA'ers telling others how to live?

Maybe people move into HOA communities because they want to live a certain way, with others who want to live that way too. Maybe they have the freedom to give up some property rights and join with others who'll do the same in order to accomplish some purpose or other...y'know, like people who leave the rural countryside and move into town.

Not to get too personal, but later I'm gonna take a shower in my backyard. I'll bet that's illegal where all you anti-HOA'ers live, isn't it? How oppressive! Any government entity that bans backyard showers should be shut down! Towns and cities are for fascists and those who like to tell others how to live. /sarc

Dues or taxes. Zoning restrictions and public behavior ordinances, or CC&Rs. What difference does it make? Why do people complain about living in NYC instead of packing up and moving someplace more to their liking? Why do people who moved into an HOA complain about the HOA?

And why do anti-HOA'ers complain about HOAs? Isn't that like a Texan complaining about life in New York City?

What happened to the freedom to live where you choose? Or is that for fascists too?
