House speaker says Obama won't get 'blank check'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Speaker John Boehner says President Barack Obama wants a blank check from Congress to raise the debt ceiling, but that he's not going to get one.

Boehner says the solution to the debt crisis isn't complicated.

I thought Boehner did very well.

Obama lies and talks down to people. Boehner came across as a straight talker who is trying to get some kind of solution in place, but the Democrats keep blocking one.

it was a good address on the Speaker’s part. I like what he said. But... I keep fearing a deal that has bogus cuts. A deal for the sake of a deal.

You’ve done well so far Mr. Speaker. Don’t go wobbly on us now. Hold fast and push CCB for a vote in the Senate. You ALMOST said that tonight. C’mon... let people know that solution sits in the Senate awaiting a vote. If Obama hits it with a veto then we’ll come up with something else. We have time.
