If the Higher Education Coalition hates it, and UCLA hates it, then it’s probably a pretty good plan.

I agree.
I think we’re on a roll!

Worthless. Absolutely worthless without a serious reform of the curriculum accompanied a thorough housecleaning of Marxist faculty. Otherwise, it’s lipstick on a pig. A Marxist pig.

Another sterling recommendation for Gov. Perry. If the communists who brought you Obama are unhappy, it speaks highly for his program.

Yes. No discussion of the core issues - those issuea being what is taught, the reading lists, the teaching materials, the classroom environments.

Get this ball rolling and there will be changes.
Why do you think they've started this discussion?

One of the things I really like about what he has in there is the fact that we should be measuring our professors, Scott said in an interview with the News Service of Florida on Tuesday. I believe students ought to be measuring the effectiveness of our professors because ultimately, it is the familys money paying for this. We really ought to have a measurement system (that is) student-centered. Every single professor in the system should be fired and made to reapply for their jobs. It's about the only chance taxpayers will have to clear-out the dead wood.

Any move to get rid of politicized junk courses, unneeded law schools, unneeded graduate programs, socialist breeding grounds, etc.?

I hate to say it, but I totally agree with Perry (and Scott) on this one.
The system is TOTALLY PERVERTED now and should be illegal. If you look at “financial aid” in Ivy League schools, you’ll find that they no longer give any based on merit - it’s all based on ‘need’.
So they have a super-high sticker price that only families making $250k or more can afford flat out, and everyone else pays ‘based on their need’. This is SICK. I recently bought a (non-UAW) car and I paid ‘based on the price’. In fact, I don’t know any other product where you have to submit tax forms to know what the cost is...but you have to do that if you want to send your kid to college and you’re not loaded.
I’d love to see this system broken up, once and for all.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Time to return to education and turn away from the insanity.
