Well written, and I believe you’re correct according to scripture. The existence of evil in this world is often used as an argument against the existence of God. Why would a loving God permit abortionists to murder innocent children?
Humans aren’t animals. We know the difference between good and evil and can choose to do good. Like you wrote, we have free will. God wants people to be like Christ. Christ faced the same difficulties and temptations as us, but Christ chose to love and obey God. We can do the same.
Abortion exists because most people prefer evil over good. It’s as simple as that.
But God could simply plant a recurring thought into the abortionist’s mind whenever he wakes up in the morning, a thought that his job consists of murdering innocent babies, a thought that he can never cleanse himself of the evil he perpetrates.
That doesn’t interfere with free will. It simply ensures that the abortionist has full knowledge - daily - of what he is doing.
Besides, the free will argument is nothing more than a crutch because people claim every day all around the world that God intervened to help them out or that God spoke to them or that God performed a miracle to help out in some way. Yet the most innocent of all get relegated to squirming in a toilet and God shrugs His shoulders and says “Meh, it’s free will.”??? That ain’t right. Not by a long shot.
