HEAR that gloating sound, among the sobs for the 76 people murdered last week by Anders Behring Breivik?

Hear that cackling among the moans?

It’s Leftist polemicists, gleeful that the Norwegian murderer was a “far-Right Christian”.

How often you’ve been reminded.

One ABC news story filed on Sunday mentioned three times that Breivik was a “Christian”.

Yet when Major Nidal Malik Hasan shot dead 13 soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009 while screaming “God is great”, the first substantial report filed by the ABC’s Washington reporter failed to note even once that he was a Muslim.

A true Christian does not live out his faith by shooting dozens of young people on an island. An ethnic Norwegian killing other ethnic Norwegians is not an obvious expression of Islamophobia.

Yet who cared? Here was a chance for the Left to pay back the “Right” for having worried about Islamist terrorism and Muslim integration in the West.

With Breivik, it seems unlikely that his alleged Christianity gives any clue, not least because he writes: “I’m not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic.”

And here is where the attempt to equate Breivik’s “Christian jihad” with the Islamist jihad truly breaks down.

The Christian New Testament explicitly forbids violence, but jihadists quote Koranic verses they say justify murder, and worship a warrior Prophet who slaughtered a Jewish tribe.

But how many Christians would endorse what Breivik has done? How many Christian leaders would say of his murders what our then Mufti of Australia, Sheik Taj El-Din Hilali, said of the September 11 attacks, that this was “God’s work against oppressors”?

There have been both Muslims and Christians who have preached Holy War, either Crusade or Jihad.

For a Christian to preach in favor of Holy War requires twisting and/or ignoring plain statements opposing such actions in his own Holy Book.

For a Muslim to preach against Holy War requires twisting and/or ignoring plain statement in his Holy Book requiring all good Muslims to engage in it.

Also, Muslims do not worship The Prophet. They revere him.

No news there— when a Muslim commit mass murder—or even a single honor killing they are simply obeying their bloody religion .They are always blowing something or someone up—or slaying those who disagree with them—that is what Muslims do No news there. But Christians —even those who insist they were Marxist—or Darwinian —Christians violate the very modern myth that God is Love (probably started by the same folk who preach Islam is a Religion of Peace).Christians in today speak are supposed to be passive and all about turning the other cheek being a door mat. I think the guy said he was a “Cultural Christian” which means that he did not really hold to the tenants of the faith but rather that he thought society needed Christianity to function well whether Christianity was true or not. Sounds like a few churchgoers I know!

I wonder if the Mufti of Australia was thrown out of the country as he deserved to be?

Unfortunately, no. He is an Australian citizen and so cannot be kicked out. A Labor government gave him permanent residency and then citizenship during the 1990s.

He is no longer the Mufti of Australia, however - he was replaced in that role in 2007.
