The Americas were probably down to their last million people and the Europeans WASTED 400,000 people, minimum, in that war.

But even if all that happens a bunch of the free stuff the entitlement class gets now will go away due to lack of funds.

But think how eager they are to be manipulated, to worship at the feet of their Redeemers, to write blank checks to the very politicians who exploit them, to jump on the bandwagon of Groupthink, which is the propaganda provided them by their political masters. All this is not lost on the politicians.

People are not deterred by hardships. It's injustice, real or, of greater importance, perceived, that makes them mad. And Democrats and others of their ilk are experts at promoting the perception of injustice.

When Caligula arrives on the scene, he (or she) will find it easy to convince the masses that their injustices have been avenged. They'll be happy to accept whatever token benefits their Benefactor dishes out to them and will revel in the entertainment, especially if it's laced with violence against Whoever-it-is who perpetrated the injustices (even after centuries have passed--history will have been re-written).

And Caligula will have a splendid time--throwing The Guilty to the lions--tossing unwilling little boys into the sea from the neo-Capri--turning the Senate into a whorehouse, with the wives and daughters of the Senators as the prostitutes--burning down Rom...oops! I mean Washington--all the things the Julio-Claudian Dictators did during the first few generations of their Imperial rule.

History keeps repeating itself because there are more of them, who can't learn from it, than there are of us, who can.

(You can bet the farm that there are politicans--mostly Democrats, but not exclusively--who lie awake nights dreaming of such a scenario--with themselves receiving the Imperial command)

(And all the luxury and power that it will bring!).

(They salivate.)

The media loves to give the impression that ALL hispanics are pro-illegal immigration, when in fact, the most staunch anti-illegal sentiment is in the Hispanic community, from those who played by the rules, and see others bypassing it. That’s a group the GOP should go after.

Psst...Democrats...you want to know how to capture 80 percent of the Hispanic vote? That gay marriage thing is a big winner with that group. And already, some gay leaders are coming out and saying that the great thing about gay marriage is that it helps redefine marriage from monogamy to a more open model that will also benefit straight couples. Hispanic women in particular will lOVE the idea that their men will be free of the stigma of cheating.

And while you are at it, start pushing the idea of requiring all churches, especially the Catholic church, to perform gay marriage. Hispanics are secretly yearning to make their churches more modern.

Lastly, the abortion thing, especially late-term abortions, is a BIG winner in the Hispanic community.

I give you this advice for free. Oh, and while you are it, please don’t throw us in that briar patch!

Where are your stats to back up this claim? Yeah, there may be a few but the numbers say they vote for amnesty-open borders politicians.

Oh good grief here we go again. Whenever you see an article about “Hispanics” what they really are referring to is “MEXICANS”. A very sizable percentage of non-Mexican Hispanics are conservative and vote Republican. Many, many people from Central America, South America, Cuba are NOT automatically going to vote for the rat party. The writer of this article thinks Hispanic groups will vote in a block (like the blacks). This will never happen. Hispanics come from different cultures, creeds and races. They do not think or vote in a block.

Donning my flame-proof Jedi suit....

America needs rapid GROWTH both in population and economically. Young immigrants can fix the Social Security/Medicare problem if there are enough of them. Our aging population is a demographic bomb that can be fixed by new policies.

The problem is that the wave of immigrants from South of the border is poorly educated, entitlement-minded, and easily led by commies.

We can counteract that wave by inviting people from many other parts of the world to immigrate. Examples include MENA persecuted Christians, freedom seeking Taiwanese, Hindus, freedom seeking Europeans, etc.

Our universities turn out waves of very talented foreign professionals, e.g., physicians, who can help our economy and would love to stay past their student visa. BTW, brain drain is a huge boon to our country.

The most important class of immigrant is entrepreneurs. We need to roll out the red carpet for them especially manufacturing entrepreneurs.

America needs new blood to thrive.

Immigration is the bugaboo that will hamper the Republicans in 2012 and beyond.

I agree, and in time the dems will benefit big-time.

We have hispanic republican governors in Nevada and New Mexico. I see a lot of Conservative hispanics. and a lot of barrio hispanics looking for free handouts. I don't believe they will vote as a group. They will vote based on their situation and their best interest.
I don't think either party will benefit from more hispanics.

You have an unlimited supply of putative immigrants south of the border.

There is essentially no check on illegal entry with a wide open border.

In some, perhaps most states, there is no photographic ID check at the polling places.

Yup. You're right.

Other than that, I think you are looking at the largest influx of Republicans waiting in the wings in the entire history of the United States.

I believe you are right.

They are only potential voters, however. The GOP needs to explain to them IN SPANISH so that they will understand the conservative positions.

That would require leadership and a real conservative stance.

.

I hope we get some soon.

The author, like most in the Republican power structure pimping for amnesty, is disingenuous at best. I've known good and decent hispanic families. Most of them are in rural areas. Unfortunately, they're the minority in the hispanic community. The overwhelming majority of hispanics (especially the illegal immigrants) in the cities, and that's most of them, have entirely different values. They're a little less radical than the violently anti-establishment blacks, but they have exactly the same entitlement mentality, identify more with Mexico than the US, and go gaga for race-baiting socialist politicians. Ironically, most people who come here "seeking work" (fewer than half the illegal immigrants in the country actually have jobs) blame El Norte and us evil gabachos for Madre Mexico's problems.

It would be preferable to cede the southwest back to Mexico if the only other option is to declare amnesty and hand them and their dem political crackers (and essentially Mexico) political control of several states where newly legalized immigrants would be the largest voting bloc. The country as we know it would be gone in pretty short order, IMO. At that point, there would probably be a popular mandate in the country for formal entry into the NAU, and we'd be forced to use even more of our tax dollars than we already do bankrolling the basket-case to the south of us.

I'd no sooner pull the lever for someone advocating amnesty through liberal weasel-wording than I would a fascist or white supremacist hinting at putting hispanics on cattle-cars and executing them. Those are the two extremes in the debate, and neither is just. Illegal immigration can be nearly 100% eradicated by making it impossible for anyone in the country without permission to obtain employment or social services. It's a good and sensible approach that's painted by the left as extreme because it actually works. All they care about at the end of the day is putting more voters on the dem party roles. Country-be-damned.

If the GOP's willing to risk the existence of the United States as a sovereign entity over some misguided effort to dabble in identity politics, they can count me as off the plantation. I'll find a 3rd party candidate to vote for or write someone in who thinks our future might actually be worth risking their precious political career over.

As for fixing the GOP's problem with the majority of hispanic voters, it's not realistic to hope for it happening all at once. Nearly every bit of necessary civil rights legislation on the books was put into place by Republicans. Not saying alot of it didn't need to be done, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what good any of it's done the GOP over the years in terms of support from racial and ethnic minorities.

No matter. At least the Battle of Höchstädt II was "a famous victory" in the words of the poet Robert Southey, writing 94 years later, in 1798.

We don’t need mass immigration anymore, and haven’t for decades. Automation, mechanization, and productivity gains have rendered open immigration policies obsolete.

There are fewer than 1 million hourly agricultural labor jobs left in the US. Over half of new LEGAL immigrants end up on social assistance programs. Over half of illegal immigrants do not have regular work. At one time in the recent past, we actually needed immigrants with technical and engineering skills, but we no longer need those either as the industries that employ them no longer include the US in their growth plans.

We already have 20-30 million people in this country (legal and illegal) in dire need of jobs.

What we need is massive domestic deregulation, banking and currency reform, tax reform, trade policies that actually take into consideration future effects on domestic industries, and considerably LESS immigration of all kinds until we can figure out what to do with all the people we already have sitting around on their kiesters.

You are really not going to like the future with even more mechanization, automation, computerization and robotics.

I suspect one of the more highly prized jobs is going to be that of the art teacher who understands paint and its various techniques.

Then there are the hotshots who will be doing 3D imaging for advanced video ~ especially as that applies to robotics.

Conservatives MUST rid this land of illegal immigrants.
The key to doing this is self-deportation that will occur when ALL benefits are taken away from illegals...

Not among Catholic Hispanics and they are the majority of Hispanics.

"The Latino community in California is sharply divided along Catholic-Protestant lines when it comes to Proposition 8, a new poll finds.

A majority of Latino Catholics, 57 percent, say they would vote to allow same-sex marriage in their state of California, according to the poll released Wednesday by the Public Religion Research Institute. In contrast, only 22 percent of Latino Protestants say they support allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry.

The Latino population makes up 36.6 percent of California’s population, according to the 2008 U.S. Census Bureau statistics." http://www.christianpost.com/news/poll-prop-8-divides-religious-latino-community-in-calif-46003/

Spanish
Latin
Hispanic

None of these terms means illegal. Why do these idiots keep getting it mixed up? Illegals may lean to the left, but that has nothing to do with the people I know.

“Most Hispanics that are legally here in the country are of the character:
1. Super Strong Family Focused
2. Religious - Typically Roman Catholic
3. Believe in Hard Work and getting Paid

For some reason, that doesn’t make me think Democrat.”

You would be wrong, the Catholic Hispanics are liberal Democrats, only the Protestant Hispanics vote Republican in any numbers, about 48% to 56% Republican versus about 25% to 33% Republican for Catholic Hispanics based on the 2004, and 2008 elections.

Sorry, I guess I wasn’t being clear. The issues I cited would all be complete losers in the Hispanic community. If the Democrats did the things I suggest, the Hispanic population would turn heavily Republican.

I was making a little joke.

I don’t get it, if Catholic Hispanics support Gay marriage when asked, then how is it a loser for democrats?
