Well, this is politics, not religious purity, and when the Pope quits counting them as Catholics, then maybe they won’t be counted as such. Jews and Protestants are counted the same way, they aren’t tested for religious purity for political points.

Conservatism and religiosity are pretty much a given, but it is not a 100%, even sincere, faithful people sometimes see things significantly differently.

More talking to people like you do at church, makes a huge difference, I would like to see more Evangelical type activity within the American Catholic church, an American Catholic revival type thing.

Where are your statistics supporting your erroneous conclusion? Just your own personal anecdotes?

..btwTF2009...that post is from blackandproud who unless he/she is lying is a minority that ought to know...not like southernproudpeckerwood wardaddy..who is admittedly a mite jaded...and who could be considered suspect in the objectivity department

I was married to a Latina...have two daughters with her..who are with me....see homepage...I ain't lying

This is our reality...we do not have generations to hope they will come around one day...and like someone else said...most illegals don't vote...when they do...Katy bar the door....California is our future

hat tip to will88 for excellent statistical posting

Except for older Cubans who fled tyranny, rich South Americans who fled tyranny, and Nicaraguans who fled tyranny and a few Alamo era TexMexicans....they are solidly Democrat voters...how well we all like them is beside the point....I like many liberal Jews too but I don't want 30 million of them streaming in.

It isn’t a purity test, it is simply to say you believe.

You can read if someone really believes,

Isn’t to say you are more pure vs another person, it is just to say do you really believe or are you only here because your wife drags you?

Purity test would say the prostitute couldn’t be counted even when she has a heart felt belief in Catholicism. That isn’t what I am saying.

If the Pope counts them as a Catholic, and they tell the pollster they are a Catholic, then they go in the poll as a Catholic, even if they vote Democrat, as most Catholics do and almost always have.

bull, the hispanic vote unlike the black vote is 50-50 and as they assemalate more than will mostly become republicans since everything about them is conservative.

You are thinking of Protestant Hispanics, not the Catholics, who are the majority of Hispanics.

Ok, whatever, you understand the point...ignore it...we called catholic mass the beauty contest...everyone showing off their clothes, family, and their cars. All a show, with few believers. I don’t classify anyone a member of a religion unless they have an actual belief.

Catholic and Jewish Religions have immense power in certain parts of the community.

That is fine in church and your faith, but with politics and elections and issues and strategies and voting blocks, we can’t do that in polling.

Plus they are very conservative culturally already with regard to church and family. In fact, in regards to family I would say 80% or more of hispanics are FAR more conservative than any other group including whites. Family means something to hispanics.

Wow! Keep spouting meaningless rhetoric.

The vast majority of hispanics I know are divorced, married in mexico and have wives here, have children with multiple partners, came here illegally (which in itself shows they have no respect for the U.S.), take public assistance, etc.

Also, unless they are telling you they vote conservative all that means nothing. They may live as conservatives but the data shows that hispanics that DO vote vote almost 2 to 1 for democrats for the last several decades.

Even the great "hispanderer" GW only got 45% percent of their vote.

That is one of many good reasons not to do a blanket amnesty. I also would work off the assumption that illegals are going to trend more democrat than the Hispanic population as a whole.
