Sadly, the article cuts off just prior to the tale of the heroic efforts of Lieutenant Bender single-handedly nearly bringing the convict into custody, on the hood of the perfectly restored AMC Hornet, which happened to lose it’s brakes, coasting to a stop at approximately 617 4th Street, where the convict escaped, never to be seen again. In recognition of this feat of bravery, the city of Eureka commissioned the construction of Lost Coast Brewery at this address, which has become a destination feature of the county, only surpassed in visitation by the Bender Natural Museum of Mushrooms, located in nearby Benderville, where, for a nominal price, visitors can view the native fungi exhibit, and observe the worlds largest slug collection.

I always envisioned Bender driving an AMC Pacer and then upgrading to a Ford Pinto (aka cherry bomb).

It is also rumored that for an additonal fee one can partake of the, uh, smokey flavor of those schrooms which explains his celestial driver picks. Move over Dolly.
Great thread BTW. Glad to be back home to enjoy it.

Good to see ya Happy Dawg. I’m back on at 0-dark-thirty, so I’ll bid all y’all farewell, don’t taze me bro, support yer local sheriff, floss those teeth, and make sure yer dawg is getting enough cheese.
... and rotate those tars!

Lt Bender was my great grandfather and he was promoted to Capt when he was released from the hoosegow the second time. He was promoted to Chief when he was the lone survivor and only witness to the massacre at Bender Gulch.
ohandbytheway, comma, the owner of the Lost Coast Brewery wants to visit the sprawling gardens at the Vast Bender Estate. She will be accompanied by Little Bender Jr whom you met...

Speaking of Indianapolis this little flash from the past was at a local car show last weekend and it is not a AMC Pacer

You raised a fine man in Bender Jr. I can’t speak highly enough of his courtesy and character. Tell him howdy for me, and thank him for the tour.
Now, I really gotta go sleep. Please, try to ping a bit more quietly...

Drug Orgy and shootings over booze
The Mrs. said something about wanting to rent a home on the beach for a few months last night at dinner. Eureka sounds as if there is more crime there than she would want to be bothered with. I guess Crescent City or North Bend will need some researching.

Try Trinidad Ca where the only crime was the clear cutting of a beach hillside that was blocking his view by a councilman. There was just a matter of ownership of said parcel, ie it belongs to the local Indian tribe...
