There are better ways to balance budget (Nebraska Dem Senator Nelson claims again he supports a BBA)
NP Telegraph ^ | July 28, 2011 | Jim Fagin, Comm. Dir. for Sen. Ben Nelson

Posted on 07/28/2011 6:30:16 PM PDT by Qbert

In response to Dan Timm's letter published (July 26), Senator Ben Nelson supports a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would require Washington to balance its budget and force cuts in spending. In fact, earlier this year, Senator Nelson voted for a resolution that said, "Congress should pass, and the States should agree to, an amendment to the Constitution requiring a Federal balanced budget."

Senator Nelson has said that what he will not do, however, is vote for a plan to balance the budget on the backs of seniors. That is precisely what the balanced budget amendment in the "Cut, Cap & Balance" legislation would do.

"Cut, Cap and Balance" would force harsh cuts to Medicare and Social Security. That is why he opposed it. There are better ways to balance the budget and Senator Nelson will support them.

Jim Fagin

Deputy Communications

Director

Office of Senator Ben Nelson

He can’t even lie convincingly (where are all these horrible “cuts to seniors” in CCB?).

Man this guy is such a lying tool. Maybe he could explain how he allowed SS to get tied in with this situation. SS is a horribly broken system but it is currently in the black (barely) and each and every one of us see the SS tax leave our paychecks every payday. So we know that if the checks don't go out that it is somebodies decision, and it sure looks like it's the Democrats and Obama ‘s decision to default on those SS payments.

I hope Nebraskans are “on to him”. I will throw a spoon of dirt on him tonight when I explain to some Libs how the Health care act that his vote passed included a 3.8% federal tax on the sale of their home. But the bills passage was too important to bother reading the details. Stupid is as stupid does.

BBA is more flimflam. Sure is. Tell ya what: Increase the tax rate to 100% and spend every dime of it. See? Balanced! THAT'S NOT THE ANSWER. BBA is fluff on top of flim-flam. Include it in the bill if you must, but CUT and CAP first!!!!!! Stop the phony baseline crap first and foremost. You want BALANCE? Lower taxes and reduce regulations. Now THERE'S some BALANCE!!!!!

A Balanced Budget Amendment is a ruse! Even IF passed through Congress and sent to the states for ratification it could take 50 years for enough states to sign on and for it to become law! A majority of states currently have dimocRAT majority legislatures and governors.

The answer is to send more fresh faced NEW people to DC when we vote OUT the cretins who have put us IN this mess and are right this minute conniving to KEEP us there!

Honorable people don’t need a law to FORCE them to do right! We need to send people to DC who will return our government to ZERO BASED BUDGETING, and we need to send Sarah Palin to lead them!

My Congressman Adrian Smith made the point in his Tuesday evening teleconference that only 0 can stop the SS checks from being issued. He also made the point SS at the moment is sound—at the moment— and it is separate from this mess. He also made it clear the threat from o to not send out SS checks is that- a threat to get things back on the track o wants.

Hopefully the good folks of Nebraska have seen the error of their ways and send Nelson packing.
Here in Florida we will be doing our best to get rid of our own Nelson, Bill.

How about we start balancing it on the backs of the illegals ?

No more section 8 housing, no more food stamps, no more free breakfast, lunch and “summer meals”, no more SSI, no more free medical care, no more TANF, simply - NO MORE !

That’s where I want to start.
