By blocking Boehner, the so-called Tea Party has won the battle and lost the war.

It's too bad if it works out this way. TEA had a lot of control when they moved the debate SO significantly our way. There are no new taxes, some cuts, the debate has to come up again, and cuts/reforms in entitlements have to happen or they don't get another raise in debt. ie dems have to choose - cut/reform or no debt max.

But if this goes bad, TEA won't be remembered next nov for moving the debate so well, they'll be remembered for sabotaging a major win and... wait for it.... snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

But it could still work out if we can get CCB debated.

I agree, I think it was good that they moved the debate and didn’t let people off the hook. But at some point, you have to know how to quit when you’re ahead, giving you a win (maybe not everything, but something) and a chance to fight another day. Also, future games would have been played more and more on Tea Party turf.

But I think this current situation is going to result in the Tea Party (well, the name, at least, since there is no “Tea Party” strictly speaking) being marginalized and ultimately having less effect.
