Colour-coded children: School puts bright children in different uniforms

The gifted and talented go to Delamere and wear purple ties and purple badges.

The rest go to Ashwood, which wears blue, or Sherwood, which wears red.

These two schools are more mixed ability but are still streamed into three tiers.

Michael Murphy said he took the decision to impose streaming to attract high-ability children to the school Critics yesterday warned the move is demoralising for pupils and would merely increase competition and animosity between them rather than raise standards. But headteacher Michael Murphy insists the measure is the only way to attract pupils of well-off parents. Mr Murphy is one of the highest-paid headteachers in England, last year earning £171,483.

There are so many horrible teachers. I know there are some really, really good ones, too. My experience was that the terrible ones outnumber the good ones at least three to one.

I’m so glad your daughter is doing better. She has a great Mom!

I guess it's easier than having them wear signs that say "Bullies, Please Beat Me".

They’re standardizing the globe. I’ve observed that what happens in England comes here. The treaties have been signed...some for decades, e.g., Nixon signed a treaty that overpopulation is a security threat hence the effort to reduce the birthrate here and globally. It’s also a way for the UN et al to get into poorer countries with their NGO’s and once they’re in the door - Soros, Singer, Jeffrey Sachs aren’t far behind. All funded by the west.

BRAVO..........well done; though dragging the Pre-Raphelites into the mix ( though yes, okay, I accept the Ruskin drop-in ),is slightly far fetched.

It's Blavatsky, BTW, and Annie Besant was one of the Madame's "12 disciples".

Going a step farther, it was Blavatsky who introduced the word "ARYAN" and a race and an "advanced" one at that.

I may be wrong, but IIRC, alchemy wasn't really a part of the Theosophists' "teachings"; Indian mysticism was and the "twisted cross" was used by them long before Hitler did so.

Aldous Huxley was a fringe member of the Bloomsbury Group.

Were you referring to his father and uncle, or to all of them ? If to the father and uncle, they belong in the Darwin group, not to the Theosophy one.

Yes, we had bird names as well; the owls were the highest group, but I can’t remember the other ones.

I have tracked it. Not only was John Maynard Keynes a Fabian socialist (so was John Dewey). he was a sodomite who passed around little boys at his little orgies. They are all as evil as those in the pit of hell.

They have a stranglehold over the education of our children and the media to corrupt and deceive. John Stuart Mills was exactly right in On Liberty—what he said about education by the state. He said the schools would condition the children into becoming slaves and destroy their morality and control what and how they would think. He is right....we have so many obamabot idiots, now.

Back 60 years ago and way back even farther, this was the norm, here, in the USA. That's when kids were still skipped, flunked, and there were even middle schools where the bright kids did thee year in two.

There were no middle schools 60 years ago.

Oh yes there were..........they were called JUNIOR HIGH, though and usually went from 6th grade through 8th, but sometimes went from 7th grade through 9th.

The SP classes in special Jr. highs did those three years in two.

And some kids just got skipped grades in regular public schools, while others were "held back", because they got all Ds or flunked most subjects.

Maybe they didn't exist where you grew up, but the most assuredly DID exist in NYC and the rest of that state.

This has always been the case in the UK through testing. In the 50’s, my husband has tested prior to Grade School. He went to the ‘brighter school’. His brother went to the ‘not-so-bright school’. Been going on for YEARS through the Socialist government.

Yes, and to me in the early 60’s. The secondary school you went to was by request and acceptance was based on test score in the 11+ exams.

However the Labour govt. in the late 60’s turned all of the secondary schools into “comprehensive” schools.

This was the true socialist method - you go to the nearest skool and everyone was the same - all brought down to the lowest level.

‘That’s when kids were still skipped, flunked_____’

Over 50 years ago in Queens, NY, my spouse knew of a young man who had been in the same ‘grouping’ of kids from year to year, then was ‘demoted’ to a lower group - don’t know what level of school - sorry.

That young man withdrew and became sullen and inactive. Needless to say he was very affected by the demotion.
Guessing this happened to plenty of kids to one degree or another if/when their status changed - sad.

With grade inflation, wouldn’t a majority of a kids end up in ‘gifted’ classes by your criterion?

(That’s not saying there’s not unfair favoritism at your and others’ schools.)

About 15% of the grade level received an “A” in the two courses I speak of, but only 17 “select few” were chosen to go on, not even the ones with the highest average!

And, yes, I do believe grade inflation exists and coexists with favoritism!
