In what amounts to Baroness Thatcher’s final and irrevocable withdrawal from public life, the former prime minister’s office in the House of Lords has been closed down.. Her son, Sir Mark Thatcher, told me that the office had “served its purpose.” In its latter years, it had only one full-time employee in Mark Worthington, who had dutifully dealt with Lady Thatcher’s affairs for the past 20 years, but, as her health had declined, so, too, did her public engagements. “Space is in desperately short supply at the Palace of Westminster, and the feeling was, in all honesty, we simply couldn’t justify keeping the office going any longer,” one of the former prime minister’s associates tells me. “If I am honest, I think it highly unlikely that Margaret will now ever be seen in public again.”

Given that the office had taken to issuing public statements purporting to represent Margaret Thatcher that were decidedly not in the spirit of her service to her country nor in the spirit of her public life afterwards, I’d say Mr. Worthington brought it upon himself. Fits of pique and silly snits directed at very popular conservative figures were not well advised.

Margaret Thatcher was such a blessing on the UK. Would that there could be another dynamic duo like Thatcher and Reagan to save our two wonderful countries. I know it’s a lot to ask but please Lord, find us another two like those two.

For the media, Thatcher was the template for all elected officials with “unpopular” beliefs: Total, scorched-earth Alinskyan demonization, with the goal that even people who know or care nothing about politics “hate” the person anyway. And it worked. It gave Labour 16 years of uninterrupted rule.

That might be a media view, but hardly accurate. Labour’s reign was ushered in in 1997 for largely one reason: The Conservatives in the UK were destroyed within when many of them voted to remove Thatcher, then a sitting Prime Minister, from Office in 1990. Out of fear they'd lose their seats because of Thatcher's immovable position supporting her hugely unpopular Poll Tax, the Tory MP’s voted to oust her from her Premiership. That act of removing a sitting Prime Minister who'd won three general elections sent shock waves through the entire Conservative Party and destroyed party unity for almost two decades. Margaret Thatcher's most loyal supporters in the party, and there were many, had no interest in working with those who actively removed her (we'd call those removers RINO’s here in the US). That disunity in the Tory Party is what allowed Labour to fill the vacuum of disarray. And let's be clear about this too: The Labour Party in Britain today looks nothing like the Labour Party of Thatcher's day. Back then the Labourites were Communist Red through and through. Tony Blair's Labour was really Thatcherism light. Blair never removed any of the Trade Union legislation the Tories put in place; he also reversed none of the privatization Thatcher implemented. Basically Blair was a “right place right time” politician and was shrewd enough to use “Thatcherism” to his political benefit. He was far more to the Right than his previous Labour predecessors, as his support of the US in Iraq clearly showed (which is something Thatcher would have done in an instant, and no true traditional Labour leader would ever have done).
Margaret Thatcher was one of the greatest Leaders the world has ever known. In fact Blair sort of proves it. Given he “accepted” all of the Thatcherism policies of privatized industry vs. state owned industry; of a subdued trade union movement vs. trade unions owning Downing street, you'd have to say that's a political revolution by definition if there ever was one. Margaret Thatcher's political philosophy has now been accepted by her political opponents as the standard. She was truly an amazing woman, and her party is living to regret the day they removed her, rather than allowing the electorate to do so.
NOW would be the time to send any cards or flowers or expressions of gratitude
Wrongo! Lady Thatcher will reappear soon in the persona of liberal activist Meryl Streep who will play the former prime minister in a Hollyweird bio-version.
Streep, of course, is the gifted and expert environmental scientist who testified before Congress on the effects of the pesticide Alar....testimoney which turned out to be a 101% false and was totally discredited.
The scare Streep fomented resulted in an almost-total wipe-out of the apple-farming industry that year and for several years to come.
In truth, Streep has zilch credentials as a scientist plus zilch credentials as a statesman/woman.
So, by liberal standards, she automatically becomes the perfect Tinseltown actress to portray her direct opposite...... a genuine article, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Baroness of Kesteven...and true conservative soulmate of President Ronald Reagan.

Ahhh, the beautiful Margaret Thatcher. Strong, intelligent, wise and so respected. Best friends with Ronald Reagan. Two strong leaders. Too bad our country doesn’t have a leader much less a strong leader. We are WEAK in the eyes of the world.
God bless you Margaret Thatcher. You were a force that was God sent along with Ronald Reagan. We wish you peace and comfort as you prepare to journey home when that time comes.

She exhibited more testicular fortitude than the Republicans in the congress ever could have collectively hope to ever amass.
Thanks. I hope she is comfortable in her last days. She is one of the great people of my lifetime.
