China Wants More Aircraft Carriers to Compete With India
Indian Armed Forces News ^ | July 30, 2011 | Staff

A serving Chinese military general is citing India’s capabilities in his efforts to edge the government to have more than one aircraft carrier. General Luo Yuan, a senior researcher with the Academy of Military Sciences, said China needs at least three aircraft carriers to defend its interests in the face of neighbors developing their capabilities.

“If we consider our neighbors, India will have three aircraft carriers by 2014 and Japan will have three carriers by 2014,” General Luo was quoted as saying by Beijing News. “So I think the number (for China) should not be less than three so we can defend our rights and our maritime interests effectively.”

China recently confirmed it was revamping an old Soviet ship to be its first carrier. The state media broadcast footage of its first carrier in a rare public mention of the project. The moves added to worries in the Asian region about Beijing’s military expansion and growing assertiveness on territorial issues.

The government tried to reassure neighbors that its first carrier would be used only for the purpose of training and research and there was no plan for aggression involved.

“We are currently re-fitting the body of an old aircraft carrier, and will use it for scientific research, experiments and training,” defence ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng told a news briefing.

The latest statement from General Luo shows there has been some rethinking, and Beijing is prepared to talk about using aircraft carriers for war preparedness. The general represents a government academy that plays a role in the military planning process. China is worried that Japan’s three carriers, which are at present used for helicopter operations, would eventually be converted into full aircraft carriers. The two countries have serious disputes over some islands.

The United States indicated it was happy China had taken a step toward better transparency by openly discussing the issue about aircraft carriers.

The United States indicated it was happy.....

What a pathetically pusillanimous statement courtesy of the Barry Soetero (BS) administration.

I just want to puke...

China will be repossessing our carriers to pay off some of our debt. Maybe Hawaii and our left coast too at the rate we are borrowing from them.

“China Wants More Aircraft Carriers to Compete With India”
________________________________________________________________________________________________

BULLCHIT !!!!

China wants aircraft carriers so when it formally annexes the Spratly Islands, it can smack the Philippines, Vietnam and anybody including the US when we try to stop them.

The same goes for when it decides to stroll over and occupy Taiwan.

No, they are sincere. Any student of history can tell you that WWIII will be fought between India and China and it will be a doozy. One Child policies in China, and social customs in India, coupled with “sex selection abortions” means the male to female birthrate in both countries, which should be 1 to 1 is more like 1.3 or 1.4 to 1. This may not seem like a big deal, but what it means is that for every 2 girls there are three boys in these countries which, when you consider both have a population in excess of a billion people means a LOT of “surplus” men, and the only way “extra” men (those that will not be able to find a mate and settle down) have ever been dealt with by societies is either to ship them off to the frontier (which no longer exists in the world) or to use them as cannon fodder in armies of conquest.

WWI is going to look like a minor skirmish compared with the Coming Sino-Indian War, The west’s only hope will be resist temptations to get involved and let them annihilate each other in isolation

Our nation should be collectively lashed to a Post and flogged for what we have enabled China to do.

Look at the destabilization we have ushered in.

I have been warning about this moment for 16 to 17 years now. And it’s only going to get worse, much much much worse.

What? You don’t believe in “Free Trade?” You don’t think that the mass transfer of American industry to China has been an unmitigated good? Shame on you! /s

It’s an exaggeration so absurd, it doesn’t warrant a serious discussion.

For one thing, all males are not mating all the time. And hardly 100% of the women are going to be monogamous. What this means is that your scenario of a sex-starved male population is hyperbolic.

BTW, the sex ratio skew in India gives about 1.12 males born for every female child born. That’s about 12 excess males for every 100 females born. Out of 100 adult females and 112 adult males, are you trying to convince us that all of the females will be in monogamous relationships with the same number of females? Nonsense.

In the US, the average adult female has been through 7 sexual partners, IIRC, during the course of her lifetime. India most likely has a lower number, but anything higher than 1.12 would be able to accommodate the “excess males” problem easily.

Besides, Indian males have a far higher mortality rate than Indian females. All these factors need to be considered in any reasonable study.

Oh, and by the way, any war between India and China will suck the US into it, unavoidably. America will be forced to shed copious quantities blood and wealth in ensuring that China doesn’t come out dominant - because China controlling the Subcontinent will be an outcome that has the potential to be fatal to America in the long run. If you suspect this, read about the Indo-British and American efforts to stem a potential Japanese take-over of South Asia during WW2. It’s under the prominent heading, “The India-China-Burma” theatre.

Since China's got Pakistan as a firm anti-India proxy, and it is both geographically larger, more industrialized, and more militarized, I would think it would have the advantage.

Not nearly as bad as what we transferred to the Middle East, and what they are doing with our money Nikita could only dream of.

We allow a cartel to rob our citizens, while making it illegal for our citizens to compete. Henry Kissinger was kind enough to suggest to the Shaw, he should just raise the price of oil, then he could arm himself to the teeth. That really turned out well for us.

Look for India to make a deal for at least one of the new UK carriers. For years I’ve argued one will go to India sooner then later. The British can’t afford to operate them, and India needs them.

>>> What a pathetically pusillanimous statement courtesy of the Barry Soetero (BS) administration.

It’s about the same diplomatic response that would have been issued under any administration. It’s a politely phrased insult to their past paranoid secrecy and deception.
