Dollar per Dollar cut.

Haven't we been down that road before with RR and O'Neil?

I'll believe it when I see it.

see post #42

All obama, and the dem leaders, wanted was to get this past the 2012 election. The gop could have had anything they wanted a long time ago if they’d let him have that. All the other stuff by Reid is smoke and mirrors.

Who cares what the GOP wanted? In actuality, Congress is appropriating money that doesn't exist, borrowing it so that they can turn around and gift that money to others. In any other context, this would be considered embezzlement. Stealing the money of others for personal gain (IE: votes.) If the GOP wanted this, then they too are guilty of such a crime.

NO INCREASES IN TAXES and Dollar per Dollar cut.

Let's follow the money.. Most of the 'cuts' would be the not spending the money on wars that don't exist in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of the 'cuts' would be not expanding automatically the budgets of agencies as much as might have happened. And all these 'cuts' take place in a hypothetical future rather than right now.

In exchange, congress promises to continue to appropriate trillions more than the federal government takes in, roughly 12% of the GDP over the expected time period of the loan ceiling.

Pretty sure that in any book this would be considered an utter loss. Oh, and whee, a vote on a constitutional provision to force congress to spend the people's money responsibly. It is literally a permission slip for a future liberal congress (can there be a more liberal one than this one?) to raise taxes to 'balance' the budget.

We can not continue with the federal government spending 25% of the GDP. The economy can not expand enough to cover up this gross overspending. The party needs to end, and reason needs to reign supreme, and all those people embezzling the public's dollar need to stop.

Oh, and the no new taxes just means an absolute end to the Bush era tax cuts and a return of the marriage penalty in taxes. @whee, what a thing to celebrate. If this deal goes through, it is an utter loss for the nation.

The GOP didn't get "everything" they wanted.

Where's the vote on the Balanced Budget amendment?

"Recommendations" on cutting the budget does not equal actually CUTTING the budget!

If Congress doesn't agree on cuts, the Military and Medicare automatically get cut.

Right, and who'll get the blame for that? Republican's. Does anyone reasonably believe that Obama and the Democrats will let Medicaid get cut? The military, hell yes, they'll cut that, but Medicaid? That's their bread and butter constituency that'll hurt, no way in hell that'll happen.

By the way, any "cuts" in this "deal" will be beyond 2012, and as we all know, one Congress cannot bind another to action. That's un-Constitional. Cuts will NEVER happen with this bunch of morons in Washington DC.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

NO INCREASES IN TAXES and Dollar per Dollar cut. Exactly!!! But it shouldn't surprise you that a lot of people here will complain until the cows come home because we didn't shut down gov't and erase all $14 Trillion in the next 2 weeks. This is a good thing and bodes well to get Obama out of office.

There are no real cuts, just reduced levels of spending. We will still add trillions to the national debt. We will run a deficit of more than a trillion dollars each in FY-2011 and FY-2012. The $2.8 trillion debt ceiling increase will get us just into 2013.

You’re being far gtoo reasonable for today’s FR. This is a good deal...not an ideal one but still good. There’s spending cuts, no tax increases and if the Congress can’t agree on cuts we get across the board cuts. That sounds pretty good to me.
