Deals get worse and worse (vanity)
Me | 7-31-11 | Vmivol00

Posted on 07/31/2011 5:14:04 AM PDT by vmivol00

These debt deals keep getting worse and worse. Basically Boehner is signing up for either large tax increases or large defense cuts. Also he has caved on extending through the election. If he was going to fold like this at the last minute, he should have just saved us the trouble at the beginning.

Reid and the Dems have ran circles around these guys. They were smart enough to know that they could say whatever to look like they were compromising, then sweep in at the last minute to get what they want.

It's Lucy and the football. You candecide for yourself who's playing the role of Lucy....the Dems, or our so called GOP leadership.

I hope Boehner loses his speakership over this. At least with Pelosi, I never bothered to get my hopes up.

It’s your fault for having such high expectations of the Republicans. Although I’m still registered Republican so I can vote in primaries, I have lost all hope that they will do what’s right. “Go along to get along” should be the new Party motto...

It’s things like this that made me leave the GOP. The Tea Party works for me, and I think the time has come for the Tea Party to start a third party, even if that means the chosen one gets reelected.

Change will never come with the two parties we have now.

The only hope we have atm, is that the house won’t agree to the “compromise”.

Obama's Debt

debt-direction2

Clearly, you cannot cut government by giving it more ability to borrow and spend.

Obama's gravy train keeps chugging along.

And Sen Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, made a plea on the Senate floor Saturday evening (July 30, 2011) for President Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling if Congress fails to strike a deal before the Aug. 2 default deadline.

I don't think it is possible for this country to have a more sorry bunch of losers running the show.

Again, cut, cut, cut.

 An arrogant Marxist was spending
 Trillions of bucks without comprehending.
 The piss-stream media concurred
 Without saying a negative word
For the Republic they thought was ending.

Egan-Jones, the only really independent and credible ratings agency, downgraded the U.S. from AAA to AA+.

Unhinged rhetoric (July 22-30, 2011):

1. Rep Nancy Pelosi.. 'We're trying to save life on this planet as we know it today.'
2. Rep Nancy Pelosi.. 'They want to destroy your rights.'
3. Sen Harry Reid.... 'The time for ideological extremism should end.'
4. Rep Rangel........ 'These people don't care about our country.'
5. Dan Pfeiffer...... 'Could potentially put us towards a depression because House Republicans
                        are unwilling to compromise.'
6. Debbie Wasserman.. 'This is almost like dictatorship.'
            -Schultz
7. Rep Garamendi..... 'They basically want to terminate the American Dream.'
8. Rachel Maddow..... 'Shameless, craven, unprincipled, partisan hackery.'
9. Tom Friedman...... 'If sane Republicans do not stand up to this Hezbollah faction in their
midst, the Tea Party will take the GOP on a suicide mission.'
10. Rep Hoyer......... 'They want to shoot every bullet they have at the president.'
11. Van Jones......... 'They want to repeal the 20th century. They want to smash down every American
                        institution our grandparents fought for.'
12. Joe Klein......... 'Osama bin Laden, if he were still alive, could not have come up with a more
clever strategy for strangling our nation.'
13. Steve Rattner..... 'It's a form of economic terrorism. These Tea Party guys are like strapped
with dynamite standing in the middle of Times Square at rush hour saying
either you do it my way or we're going to blow you up, ourselves up, and
                        the whole country with us.'
14. Paul Krugman...... 'Republicans have, in effect, taken America hostage.'
15. William Yeomans... 'They have now become full-blown terrorists. They have joined the villains
of American history who have been sufficiently craven to inflict massive
harm on innocent victims to achieve their political goals.'
16. Martin Frost...... 'We now have a group of US politicians seeking political purity, who seem
to have much in common with the Taliban.'

I understand the frustration, however, the choices are clear on this issue- Cut, Cap, and Balance, which was passed by the house and voted down by the Senate, or Tax, Spend, and Borrow. It does not take a rocket scientist to know what needs to be done. And yes, there are plenty of unemployed rocket scientist, so our President does understand the concept of CUT! To portray this as the Republicans have not done anything, or waited for the crisis is a lie, it is obvious to me that the democrats and President are creating a crisis, which is useful when a group wants to enact their will on the people. The tea party is populist and should continue electing “tea partiers” regardless of party. Tea partiers are “public servants”.

If the appointed committee can’t reach a deal, there are automatic cuts to Defense and Medicare (more to defense) One of the possibilities is raising taxes(revenues). Thinking politically, the Dems will put tax increases forward...knowing there will be a stalemate. The GOP will then have to choose between tax increases or automatic defense cuts.

Apparently you did not read the article. Re-read it. It says that there would across the board cuts with nothing spared if Congress did not approve cuts.

This would be the Mack-Paul plan.

No...HELL NO!...if the Tea Party cant run the RINOS out of the party in the next election...How do u figure they could as a 3rd party?...The Tea Party needs to become the new face of the Republican Party...Let the RINOS go to the Dems......

All this past month of fake plans and deals and GOP leadership yakking and delays has been a game to isolate and neutralize the tea party faction in the House. Boehner and McConnell are clearly on the same side as Reid and Obama: all of their efforts were targeted against the new reps that the American people voted for in a landslide.

Let’s pray that Gov. Palin is able to lead and orchestrate another ballot box miracle in 2012, because it’s going to take a near clean sweep to get this country right again.

The Weekly Standard article says the cuts hit Defense the hardest. One GOP source says it basically guts the Pentagons budget.

I hate to be a cynic, but I’m fairly certain the deal that Obama would agree to, would have to be heavily in his favor.

The Congress has to agree to whatever the comission proposes before it becomes law, if they don’t, automatic across the board cuts will take place. So if the Congress DOES NOTHING, the cuts would across the board to everything.

>I hate to be a cynic, but I’m fairly certain the deal that Obama would agree to, would have to be heavily in his favor.

So let me get this straight. You oppose the deal because you think that 0bama would only agree to it if it were not in his favor, right? You haven’t read the deas, granted this is just Prime Face, correct?

A few things:

1) If it were not for the Tea Party, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. The Dems and RINOs would have raised the debt sealing months ago.

2) Congress cannot bind future Congresses. Any deal, no matter how good it is to our side or theirs, can simply be undone in the next round of budgeting.

3) The only thing this Congress can do that cannot be undone later is to send a Balanced Budget Amendment to the states.

4) Therefore, the most important feature of any deal is the BBA. Any deal that forces the Dems to agree to pass the BBA (it requires 2/3rds in each house to pass) is good.

5) It will take some work, but the Tea Party is extremely well positioned to carry the BBA through to full ratification in at least 38 states.

Yep - divide and conquer through propaganda. I can't believe it's all true after the twists and turns of the last month.
