12:04pm | Reid vote still scheduled for 1pm.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the Senate will still vote on his plan to raise the debt limit today.

Reid reading from AP report citing soldiers concerned about supporting their families if debt limit isn't raised.

Reid says he and Obama are "hopeful" that a deal is near. "We are cautiously optimistic," adding serious issues remain to be resolved in the next few hours.

"There's no agreement that has been made, but we're optimistic one can be reached."

Reid thanks McConnell for being a "cheerleader" on this compromise.

Lawmakers seem to have decided the national debt should equal the national trade deficit, but neither are related.

LOL, you will really piss the republican cook aide drinkers off posting that type of information, they are running around trying to rub Vaseline on the tax payers rears and tell them it was all a bad dream. Vote for the republicans we can change this in the year 2050, sure.

So now the Democrats are holding the members of the military as hostages? Does Reid mean he could never find a way to insure the military got paid? That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Reminded of my CONgress Rep Walz, D-Mn,

September 28, 2010...Walz ... he said efforts by the Democratic Congress to boost renewable energy and expand off-shore oil drilling will stabilize energy prices by making America less dependent on foreign oil.

Republican Senators to meet at 1:45 for briefing on the debt limit negotiations.

Shouldn't Senators be 'breifed' before the vote?

Don’t forget Obama also saved us from another great depression. Let’s not forget that little nugget. Just look at all the jobs that were SAVED (note - not created).

Pick a number - any number - really - just pick a random number.

You don’t understand inflation.

Or demographics.

Obama caved on nearly all fronts.

He's trying to save face by saying he got the one-tier deal, but he didn't. This deal still keeps the debt discussion going till November (when the second part must be done).

In addition the 2 tier idea didn't even enter the discussion until about 10 days ago; he's desperately trying to pretend he has something to take to his left-wing base LOL.

Money and Credit Creation (Monetary Inflation) in excess of Real GDP causes Price Inflation.

Price Inflation means the Purchasing Power of the Monetarily Inflating Currencies is being and will continue to be degraded, e.g. the Purchasing Power of the U.S. Dollar has declined about 97% in the last hundred years, and about 30% in the last decade (basis USDX, and much more basis Gold).
This excessive Fiat Money and Credit (i.e. Debt) Creation has already brought us to the threshold of Hyperinflation if one considers the Real Numbers rather than the Bogus Official Statistics.

**Shadowstats.com calculates Key Statistics the way they were calculated in the 1980s and 1990s before Official Data Manipulation began in earnest. Consider

Bogus Official Numbers vs. Real Numbers (per Shadowstats.com)

Annual U.S. Consumer Price Inflation reported July 15, 2011
3.56% vs 11.13 % (annualized June, 2011 Rate)

U.S. Unemployment reported July 8, 2011
9.2% vs 22.7%

U.S. GDP Annual Growth/Decline reported June 24, 2011
2.33% vs -2.60%

Interesting stats on just how much has changed with the dollar over the past decades.

The next election cycle will be incredibly nasty - negative.

It will be interesting to see if the Tea Party can put all of this into some context that Americans understand. Or if Obama will use his inspiring teleprompter skills to win over those who don’t get it.

Also will Obama be able to get those who put him into office - back out to vote.
