McCain Knocks Toomey As "Terrible Obstructionist" On Senate Floor
Real Clear Politics ^ | 8-1-2011 | Real Clear Politics

Sen. John McCain, Republican of Arizona, specifically ripped a member of his own party, as well as the tea party conservatives, on the Senate floor this afternoon. Here's what he said: I came to the floor a couple of days ago and made that comment, and the Senator from Illinois (Durbin) and I are in agreement, point number one. you can prioritize -- I think the Senator and every economist I know literally would agree. You can prioritize for awhile where you want what remaining money is left, but the message you send to the world, not just our markets but to the world, that the United States of America is going to default on its debts is a totally unacceptable scenario and beneath a great nation. We are in agreement. Number one: passage through the United States Senate of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as I said before, is not fair to the American people because, because the terrible obstructionists on this side of the aisle, the terrible people, their flawed philosophical views about the future of America is not going to allow to us get 20 additional votes from your side, assuming that you get all 47 since it requires 67 votes to pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. The member he was referring to is Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).

Where the hell does this old fart get off?

Someone needs to remind him that he lost in 2008 and, unlike with the DIMS, that is not a resume enhancer.

Somebody put the old kook out of his misery.

I’ve yet to hear from Sarah Palin on any of this, which is a disappointment, because it’s a great opportunity for Sarah to distance herself from this loser.

Panama Juan — What Republican has he not stabbed in the back? Crazy old coot. He’s replacing Arlen Spector as most senile Senator.

Why doesn’t that POS just change parties and get it over with?

And he can take Scott Brown with him.

I don’t know why the states keep waiting around for the DORKS in the House and the Senate to pass the stupid Balanced Budget Amendment. The states should simply call a convention and take care of it.

Yes...I know, all the fear mongering - “Who knows what will happen!!!” YIPE!!!!!. Screw it...our economy is months (and not many) from crashing anyway, due to our debt...why not just fix the damn problem.

Also, states are VERY RED these days, they are NOT going to mess up our Constitution.

states are VERY RED these days

Which means that they are not going to want the federal government to be less able to give them a bailout.

I assume Sarah offered her support of McLaim in 2010 and will stay silent on his idiocy in exchange for him supporting and staying silent on whatever future endeavors she had planned. I don’t blame her if so, because if McCain came out and criticized her at any time, the media could make mincemeat of her candidacy in hours.
