PowerPoint Sent to GOP Members (From Speaker's website)

Here is the first set of bullets from a seven page pdf,

Emerging framework has three main features:
(1) cuts government spending more than it increases the debt limit;
(2) implements spending caps to restrain future spending;
(3) advances the cause of a Balanced Budget Amendment Framework accomplishes this without tax hikes, which would destroy jobs, while preventing a job-killing national default.

Let's keep this presentation and see what happens in the next eight months. Reads like TARP to me.

(1) cuts government spending more than it increases the debt limit;

Should be:
(1) cuts government spending rather than allow base-line budgeting to continue;

Same as House-passed bill, framework creates a 12-member Joint Committee required to report legislation by November 23, 2011 that would produce a proposal to reduce the deficit by at least $1.5T over 10 years.

Each chamber would consider Joint Committee proposal on an up-or-down basis without any amendments by December 23, 2011.

Like I've said in previous posts, this thing sets up a BRAC style system in which this super committee cooks a few cuts coupled with new taxes, and then presents it to both houses for an up-down voice vote, (no debate, no amendment) thereby giving both the TEA Party caucus and the Commie caucus political cover for going along with it.

I say NO!!!

Better result than I would have expected.

While not doing much that is substantial if did show that the Tea Party has the high ground this is very painful for the libs. The focus now is claiming victory and using this ‘victory’ to get rid of Obama and take the Senate.

It is imperative that we get a “tea Party’ President and control of the Senate. The Rino’s won’t oppose a pub president. Palin would be my #1 choice I can live with Cain Bachmann and Perry. The others take us back to square 1.

"‣ Joint Committee cuts spending by greater amount than the requested debt limit hike, OR ‣ A Balanced Budget Amendment is sent to the states." The key word her is "or." I wish it were "and."

That up or down vote eliminates any Republican resistance in terms of a filibuster in the Senate, that’s the intent.

That B-ner used the verbiage “national default” at all was the first sign of a larger problem...

Because that burka is like a hospital gown, open in the back.

Read the PDF and saved for future compare. Because of BBA it “seems” slight better than shi’te sandwich.

1/2 any mandatory auto cuts go to Defense, sounds like russian roulette.

Let’s be clear as mud here, these “cuts” are not cuts but a reduction in GROWTH SPENDING. Nothing is actually a line item cut. So move along to the next item bummer. Yes, yes, I am indebted to our 22 who held the line, who saved us from Pelosi run amok, but the US leadership will not do simple arithmetic and apply it.

I think considering the circumstances, it’s the best deal we could hope to get.

No tax increases and the liberals are mad. Baby steps, folks. We’re not going to get everything we want, but this is not a bad deal. In fact, I expected it to be a lot worse. This is a good day.

What’s the point of this?
He talks about cuts and caps but applied to what?

Are they real cuts and caps resulting in shrinking debt and government expenditures or merely cutting and capping the rate of increase.
