World War II Original Cost: $288 billion Inflation Adjusted Cost: $3.6 trillion

Just two decades after the War to End All Wars, the deadliest war in history began. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the US formally joined forces with the Allies and declared war. WWII was the most costly endeavor this country ever has been through in terms of dollars and in terms of lives.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: budget; doom; gloom; spending
Perspective: Adjusted for inflation WWII cost $3.6 Trillions = $0.9 Trillion Dollars / per year of WORLD WAR II. So JUST the current deficit spending alone is equal to the spending during WWII. WTH?

This is the cost of WWII in dollars - not lives. It gets the current totally out of control spending in perspective.

The author may want to check out the History Channel in his spare time. There was some unpleasantness from 1861-1865.

Why did the author mention “lives” then?

The point is to get the current level of spending in perspective a comparison that sheeple can understand. If you are too stupid to get the point please stay off of the thread. Thank you.

WWII was the most costly endeavor this country ever has been through in terms of dollars and in terms of lives.
.......................................................

This was in the second paragraph.

I was not trying to deny the major thrust of the article, only pointing out that the Civil war cost more in lives.

Did the writer include the cost of keeping troops in Germany, Italy, and Japan for the last 66 years? No, I didn’t read the article yet.

The point is the FedGov™ is spending(printing) money today at a rate faster than during WWII, which is mind boggling to me.

Yes, understood. The problem, if the author makes silly errors of historical fact that are easy for as you say, the “sheeple” to catch, one may wonder if the rest of their claims are similarly suspect.

Sorry for the thread hi jack.

The big difference here is that while we spent the billions (w/o inflation increase), we were MANUFACTURING the items used and jobs were there, so taxes were there.

We are spending more than that, with less jobs and more social programs.

It’s not just the spending figure, there is much more involved in how this is way worse.

Sorry MSM, I know most idiots will be relieved at your running interference for your hero Obama. But those of us with brains ain’t falling for it!

“Try to pay attention, this is the cost in US inflated dollars not in lives lost. Get it?”

In the article:

“WWII was the most costly endeavor this country ever has been through in terms of dollars and in terms of lives.”

Classic, “get it?”

I thought we lost more lives in the Civil War.

If I am not mistaken, more Americans died in the War Between the States than died in all other American wars up to Vietnam.
