Harry Reid 'Embarrassed' About 2006 Opposition To Raising Debt Limit
April 14, 2011 12:43 PM
ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today told ABC News that he feels “embarrassed” that four years ago he argued against raising the country’s debt limit.

“Why is it right to increase our nation's dependence on foreign creditors?” Reid said on March 16, 2006. “Democrats won't be making an argument to support this legalization, which will weaken our country.”

In an interview today on ABC’s “Top Line” with Jonathan Karl and Amy Walter, Reid said those comments were a mistake.

“I shouldn’t have done that. I’m kinda embarrassed I did. It was a political maneuver by we Democrats. The Republicans were in power – there were more of them,” Reid said. “The president voted when he was in the Senate the same way. I heard him apologize for it. We all should take a look at how we handle these issues, but that doesn’t take into consideration the numerous times, the numerous times I voted to raise the debt ceiling. The one time I tried to make a political issue of it, I wish I hadn’t."

From April. Ya see, just a few years ago it USED to be 'immoral'. Now - not so much. Apparently 'immoral' swings both ways. Full video @ the link.

WH: Obama regrets vote against raising debt limit

Senator Reid Needs Your Help to Pass Moral Budget

Raising the debt ceiling is a sign of leadership failure
Reid: How can the Republican majority in this Congress explain to their constituents that trillions of dollars in new debt is good for our economy? How can they explain that they think it’s fair to force our children, our grandchildren, our great grandchildren to finance this debt through higher taxes. That’s what it will have to be. Why is it right to increase our nation’s dependence on foreign creditors?

Yo, LA Times. It wasn't just Roid. Urkel voted against it, too.

But, in fairness to President Clouseau, he admitted to Georgia Snuffleupagus that he was just "playing politics" back then.

Sayyyyyyyy.....wait a minute.....if Obamadinejad was playing politics then, why should we believe he's NOT playing politics now?

Americans need to work to cut the U.S. Government’s politicians’ dependence on foreign money. Vote them out!

Reid should only look into the mirror to be sorry about a lot.

I’m sorry his parents did not believe in abortion.

What is he embarrassed about? He’s using a political technique that works. He says whatever he needs to say to attack Republicans at the time he is saying it. It doesn’t matter how inconsistent it is because the MSM will cover that up. Its one of the tools in the Dem arsenal to keep the state expanding.

As leader of the RAT senate, I doubt that Harry Reid is even capable of embarrassment.

I wonder if he’s also embarrassed by his statement when arguing against the surge in Iraq: “This war is LOST.”

Democrats have a way of stating their opinions as if they are unassailable facts.

Reid has a LOT to be embarrassed about.

You see, when Reid/Obama said it was wrong to raise the debt ceiling in 2006, it was an attempt to divide Republicans.

It succeeded because the Dems took control of Congress that fall.

They know how to play our side against itself.

So in a couple years Reid will be embarrassed for voting for Obamacare when that blows up in our faces. Swell.

Sorry Harry Reid, you aren't sorry about your 2006 comments.

You are sorry that someone remembered them and was able to find video and audio copies of you speaking it.

If the 2008 - 2012 White House was inhabited by a Republican you wouldn't be back tracking, you would be expanding.

Proof positive that Harry Reid is a “Professional Politician” - one who does what is first good for him, then what is good for his party and finally, way down the list, what is good for the Republic.

Yep The ‘rats know that taking away their ability to buy votes with taxpayer funded goodies will end the coalition of offended minority groups that is called the democrat party.

He really does exhibit what is wrong with Washington and the sadistic powerful politicians. Beyond words really. We peons have to listen to Nancy tell us how she’s going to drain the swamp. Vomit! Spit! Repeat!
