A top conservative think tanks political action wing is urging members of Congress to vote no on the
White House-GOP budget compromise.
Today or tomorrow, the Senate and House will vote on the Budget Control Act of 2011, which would increase
Americas debt ceiling, the Heritage Foundations grassroots lobbying group Heritage Action for America
says on its website.
The deal relies on an insufficient level of cuts, a super committee tasked with brokering a grand
bargain that will lead to massive tax hikes, massive defense cuts, or both.
It remains insufficient to the task at hand and the standards which Heritage Action for America has set
forth during the course of the debate.
A deal between House Speaker John Boehner and the White House was struck Sunday; Senate Majority leader Harry
Reid has said he supports it pending caucus approval. Lawmakers are scrambling to come to an
agreement to raise the debt ceiling before Aug. 2, the date on which the Treasury Department says America
will run out of funds to meet all of its obligations.
Excerpt:
Put the security of the nation at risk or raise taxes.
This is the sour deal liberal lawmakers are offering in exchange for insufficient
spending cuts, according to reports of this weekends debt negotiations in Washington.
The framework that Republicans and Democrats are close to approving would raise the
debt limit by at least $2.1 trillion and get Obama and congressional Democrats
past their target date: Election Day 2012.
In return for this generous political cover, Democrats would agree to a modest
$1 trillion in supposed cuts spread out over 10 years; $350 billion of those
upfront savings come from gutting national security resources.
A trillion dollars over 10 years is not sufficient to impress credit rating agencies,
which have threatened to downgrade Americas credit status unless
Congress enacts real measures to reform spending and lower the deficit.
In fact, on Friday, Moodys announced that neither the Boehner plan nor the Reid
plan had sufficient cuts, saying:
Reductions of the magnitude now being proposed, if adopted, would likely lead Moodys to adopt a
negative outlook on the AAA rating. The current plan does not improve upon either of those earlier plans.
~~~~~~~~
The cuts to defense are unconscionable, especially now. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, etc., etc. ?
God bless and protect our long-suffering, devoted troops. Take them out of harm's way if they're going to be left
even more unprotected than they are now and not totally and properly supported.
What a deal! /s
We need to get rid of the people who support this very bad deal.
Yes, the “deal” sucks. Again, the American citizen and taxpayer will lose and the political ruling class will win.
But, at the same time, it was the “American citizen” (for the most part) that put Obama in the Oval Office. Thus half the electorate is responsible for this “deal” even happening.
When will the people learn? How much of their world do the libs (all forms) have to destroy before they finally get mad enough, and concerned enough, to do something about the destruction and tyranny in America?
Starting with Boner!
Unfortunately the democrats have been far more organized on this.
Bottom line.
Heritage seems to be covering its bases. Mitch McConnell’s wife is part of Heritage Foundation and if they are serious about this, they should kick her out.
VOTE NO!!!!. I wish I knew how to make this post in the biggest letters available. Seriously, can anyone tell me how to do that?
remove the space before font and after 10, and get this:
VOTE NO!
GOP lawmakers said the super committee could well recommend a rise in taxes, which would be passed by the House.
*In addition, financial experts warned the U.S. credit rating was still likely to be downgraded, as figures revealed the U.S. has entered a double-dip recession and the Dow Jones average today fell to a level barely above the point indicating growth. *
would be the largest increase in the debt limit in U.S. history by a margin of half a trillion dollars
“super committee” means a collection of ultimate slimy crooks and cronies who haven’t the faintest desire to follow their oath and preserve our Republic. I can see the names already and they go down hill from Kerry. OUCH
and the commie sanders, rino r’s. doubt they like the czar’s are constitutional.
