Could someone tell me, I mean seriously, what exactly we won in November 2010? Elections have no consequences when we win it, it seems.

You want a serious answer? Okay. We made progress in that we put sane people in contested/empty positions. We don't have a majority. If we can create not only a majority, but a force to deal with in the next election, we can change things. If not, we're sunk. It's cut bait or fish time. Do you have caucuses in your area?

I am checking it out. The Health Care law cuts me off in a couple of years. I am keeping arthritis at bay with supplements. Before I started them it was difficult to walk or turn my head. When FDA starts applying prescription drug standards to testing for the supplements they become illegal and will never get the billions of dollars worth of testing that FDA requires. And if they do I can’t afford them. They will be very expensive and not on the list of things a doctor will be permitted to prescribe for a retiree living on social security, assuming such a person can get past a long waiting list to see the “doctor” in the first place.

“The consequences of having no Tea Partiers in Congress would have been diabolical”

Yes. We never could have gotten a great deal like this without the Tea Party. Back in the Decade of the RINOs, the 2000’s, we would have had a bipartisan coalition that would have raised taxes and protected all the Democratic programs. “Republican” Senators Orrin Hatch and John McCain would have co-sponsored it, and taken turns holding hands with their “good friend” Ted Kennedy.

Well, well, well? What do we have here? Answer: A well deserved surprise for those who voted “straight line” for the Republicans year after year. Each time, being betrayed more and more.

A long time ago I was a staunch Republican but as time went by and each elected batch of “back-stabbing” cowards and narcissists were elected (more so than the preceding batch)I was told that I wasted my vote by voting for independents and only for individuals (not the party) deserving of my vote. They said that all that I did was to help the Marxist/communist Democratic party and I should have been ashamed of myself.

I would ask them if they were happy with the candidate they elected and many said “I held my nose and voted” because I didn’t want to waste my vote like you did.

Well, what goes around comes around and for many years all who thought that way got their just rewards today. The Republicans finally ended the life of the United States of America by going along to get along and to insure that the Democrats won through the poison of politics....COMPROMISE!

Many, like myself have voted only to lose a lot of political battles but not the war. Today, the “die hard” Republicans lost the war. I never thought I would live to see such a desecration of our heritage and freedoms.

Recently, I have posted a lot about this very thing that happened today. As I predicted it came true to my statements right down to the very words.

Now, we have only two options left to save our country. (1) an outright civil war and (2) to form and support a powerful third party that will become powerful enough to make the GOP simply go away.

If not, we all deserve what is coming to us...and it’s not going to be good.

Unfortunately, those not voting for Republicans are voting for Obama.

Bingo. I know people don't want to accept it, but we are set up for a 2 party system and that's it. We don't have the opportunity for coalition government. Our choices are Republicans and Democrats. Period.

Our ONLY real option is for Tea Party folks and movement conservatives to stay active in the Republican primaries and push the GOP further to the right. I find it amusing that people seem to think there was some magical time in recent memory where the GOP was somehow more conservative than it is now. THIS is as conservative as it has been in at least 75 years - and all because real conservatives worked together and voted in the primaries.

“Caucuses” — yes we do and we are very active. But what so many here said is that you vote for a good guy/woman, and look how they vote when they get there..I am so upset right now. So many people don’t realize that what’s happening here is the story of the frog. Wait till next election, and next election..I can tell that: libs are so much smarter than we are to spread their whining words - and they win the talking points all the time with more than 1/2 of a now braindead population. It’s the people that we lost. They just can’t think anymore and republicans are unable to fight like the libs do. So we are losing our country...waiting for the next election and the next one and the next as our only hope. It is not working.

Any conservative who thinks this deal was bad must have been climbing the walls in pain during the Bush era, when Republicans were doing the spending and passing the socialist programs. Like when Republican leader Tom DeLay said the Republican majority congress couldn’t cut spending because all the bad stuff had already been cut out of the budget. Or when Bush passed his Medicare drug bill and turned the nation’s schools over to the federal government with Ted Kennedy’s No Child Left Behind.

Appears to me, we have just watched the end of the Republic and the establishment of a Polit Bureau.

Overreaction much?

This isn't even the budget fight which begins in September and October. This is probably one of the only times, that I know if at least, that a debt ceiling increase was actually tied to ANY spending cuts. The cuts may be small, but the ship of state is like a super tanker and turning it around is not easy and takes a long time.

The idea that a Republican House was just going to roll in and force a Democratic Senate and the socialist we have in the White House to accept anything much more dramatic than this is just silly.

Our system it set up to prevent drastic change, and the problems we are facing are the culmination of decades of misrule and mismanagement, not just the couple years Hussein has occupied the White House.

By the next election anyone running as a Republican is merely advertising his weak spine and availability for sale. Republicans identified themselves loud and clear with this vote. Those who stick with the label will mostly become traditional Republicans. The few who retain principle will not be enough to stop the race to totalitarianism. These are not RINOs. The characteristic used to identify RINOs is merely traditional Republicanism. That is who Republicans are, what they are.

WOW! You are SO right about this!

I read these ignorant chants about how the Republican party is no longer conservative, and I say, What the heck are you talking about??

The 2010 election moved the Republican party as far right as it has EVER been. Reagan was a conservative President, but he did very little if anything to move the party to the right.

We Conservatives need to work our tails off to keep conservative candidates coming and making a difference in the Republican party.

As frustrating as all of this is, we finally have a real chance to make a real difference, and a whole lot of ignorant people are urging us to give up.

Well, I'm not doing that. I'm mad, but I'm not giving up. I'm determined to fight even harder to get more people who understand what the Constitution and the principles on which this country was founded elected in Republican primaries.
