The liberals in Massachusetts were so apoplectic about a...gasp...cut in the state income tax some years back (less than half a percent) that they legislated to get a question on the state income tax form.
It allows any resident to opt to pay at a rate of 5.85% instead of 5.3%.
Something like 1/20 of one percent of all filers opt to pay at the higher rate...in a state that houses lots of lefties. I wonder if Matt Damon checked that box when he lived in Cambridge?

What does he think is the income level of the small business owners, the people who run the dry cleaners, the restaurants, the auto repair shops? They are the ones in the middle, with enough income to be hit hard by taxes, but not enough to be able to take advantage of many loopholes.
