Catholic college prof blogging for abortion, live sex demonstrations

RIVERDALE, New York, August 2, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While blogging for a top pro-abortion website, an adjunct teacher at a Catholic college supports abortion and even live sex demonstrations in the classroom - while frequently mentioning her work at a Catholic institution.

Bianca Laureano, an adjunct professor at the Sisters of Charity-founded College of Mount Saint Vincent, is a regular contributor at RHRealityCheck.com and creator of the explicit “sex positive” site LatinoSexuality.com.

The Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) blog reported last week that in a recent post, Laureano promoted a vitriolic tirade against the ‘Women Deserve Better’ campaign sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

In the video posted by Laureano, Sonya Renee Taylor passionately recites a poem against the campaign, fuming that “balding middle-aged white men tell us what to do with our bodies.”

“The Vatican won’t prosecute pedophile priests, but I decide I’m not ready for motherhood and it’s condemnation for me?” Taylor shouts. “Get the f*** out of our decisions!”

This is not the first time that Laureano’s blogging habits have been questioned. In March, CNS identified a blog post in which Laureano vouched for masturbation and prostitution, and also supported a Northwestern University psychology professor who made headlines after it was revealed he offered live sex demonstrations in the classroom.

“The students who chose to attend class were consenting adults. And don’t we, as sexual health professionals, educators, activist, focus on consent?” she asked. “I think so.”

In April, Laureano described how she incorporated a pornographic image of the Virgin Mary entitled “The Liberation of Mary” to explore a greater “sex-positivity” among Latinas during a presentation at the University of Maryland.

The professor reminds her readers in several posts that she teaches at a Catholic college; in addition, CNS observed  that Laureano taught classes on human sexuality at the College of Mount Saint Vincent this summer, and is scheduled to teach two sociology courses next semester.

When the Cardinal Newman Society asked Mount Saint Vincent College President Charles Flynn to resolve the problem two months ago, said CNS’s Patrick Reilly, the president “replied but did not indicate any clear resolution.”

Reilly said CNS was later “shocked” to learn that Laureano has been slated for a class at the College in the Fall. “We will keep watch and hope that students are not led astray or put into danger because of false teachings,” he said.

Although Laureano’s posts appear to have slowed down, said Reilly, the scandal wouldn’t end with the blog.

“It would be great if she would stop posting for this website all together, but there are larger issues regarding what she has posted and what she teaches,” Reilly continued. “It would be a great relief to Catholic families if the College of Mount Saint Vincent would take appropriate action and demonstrate its commitment to a strong Catholic identity.”

LifeSiteNews did not hear back from the College of Mount Saint Vincent or from Laureano by press time.

LSN writer/editor Kathleen Gilbert contributed to this story.

“Sisters of Charity-founded”

They come to my parish looking for money and I actively campaign against them. I had an experience in the past at one of their convents during the Obama campaign, with the “younger nuns”, resulting in my being banned from their convents for my interference (challenged the CINO’s and tried to give another side to the elderly nuns). The Sisters of Charity consist of many very elderly, mostly traditional nuns, who are hoodwinked by their younger (sixties) sisters. These “sixties” y/o pant-suited, well-educated powerful convent and university CEO’s, live on the outside with their cropped hair, and pant-suits. They advocate for women priests, homosexual marriage, and abortion. They showed a video to the elderly nuns on why they should vote for Obama and afterwards got them to sign the voting cards. Thousands of votes went to Obama in this way. It would behoove our Bishops to have their video next time around with manditary showings at convents such as these. I know that Bishop trust would trump CINO power. They should also have voting cards with them and beat the CINO’s at the punch.

On the upside - they’re a dying breed - God bless them.

Oh my gosh, what is wrong with you people? This lady is very lovely and attractive, at least in the picture on the news site. What does being fat have to do with it? My mother is fat, she’s not a crazy sex worshipping liberal. I know lots of conservative fat people. This is completely inappropriate and hurtful, especially since I also am on the fat side!!! Why can we not evaluate people based on the speech and actions instead of their pants size???? I am really upset and hurt by this comment, and by this whole sub theme that she is ugly. Look, she could be gorgeous and we still wouldn’t like what she says, right? What the heck does being fat have to do with this? Just like Mrs. Obama. I detest the woman but I don’t think she is ugly or fat, but that seems to be all anyone can ever see! Are we so shallow that we use these ad hominem attacks on people’s appearance instead of logical arguments against their ideologies? Even the liberals do that.

This Bianca woman is really pretty, even if she has awful taste in tatoos. But her appearance is IRRELEVANT, it is her ideas that are important.

I am severely offended by the ad hominem attacks against liberal women because of what they look like. If you want to rip them for their ideologies, go ahead. But by saying “it’s always the fat ones” you imply that fat women are sex-obsessed liberals and that is not true. I am taking your comment personally, since I am from a family of heavier women. You have basically insulted my mother.

No. I imply that a sex-obsessed liberal woman is fat. Which she is. Don't reason from the converse.

And by "it's always the fat ones," I meant—and I think it was clear enough—that the ones teaching "courses" like this, overwhelmingly, are fat. A true statement. Are they the less confident ones who are trying too hard to get attention? Not sure. But don't expect an apology. I said nothing about your relatives, by your own description of them. They don't teach courses like this, correct? And they're not liberals, correct? Good.

But why even bring the fact of her fatness into the equation? Isn’t it irrelevant?

It doesn't seem so to me. She's gross and ugly, and a specific kind of crass. There are people who are, no doubt unlike any of your relatives, unattractive in the way they carry extra weight. In addition, all body types bring their special temptations. Among people who are fat, I've seen many of both sexes who aggressively crash their way through crowds. Here I see the latest in a long series of fat women who, perhaps in revenge on girls who more easily attract male attention, make a lot of obscene noise about sex. They attract attention to themselves and make everyone else, no doubt especially women, feel intimidated and self-conscious.

A big reason they often get away with it is that people are reluctant to call them on their malicious rudeness: Overweight carries a certain victim status among many bureaucracies. This is a corrupt kind of reluctance. Obscene is obscene, and the public square needs to be defended from it.

But she is not ugly, and she is not gross. Her ideologies are gross and ugly. And who says fat is unattractive? My husband thinks I am beautiful.

Also, obese is not a protected class. Obese is most frequently mocked. The first lady has a war against it.

I think that this is more a result of feminism and its sex-crazed evils than anything to do with size.

Don’t insinuate that you know anything about my family. Don’t insinuate that they are unattractive. And as far as I know the only temptation that fat people have is overeating. To say only fat women use sex as an agenda is a blatant falsehood. Again, why focus on her weight? Feminism is the problem, society is the problem, not her pants size.

Just saying.

Oh, perhaps I misunderstood the “no doubt unlike any of your relatives” part. I took offense by misreading that. I apologize. But the question of fat people being especially tempted by sex vs. other body types still stands.

This appears to be primarily a reading-comprehension issue. Please note below.

But she is not ugly, and she is not gross.

We'll agree to disagree there.

Her ideologies are gross and ugly.

Bingo.

And who says fat is unattractive? My husband thinks I am beautiful.

I have no doubt he is correct. I know a great many "generously proportioned" women who are beautiful.

Also, obese is not a protected class. Obese is most frequently mocked. The first lady has a war against it.

Obesity is in the early stages of being a protected class, with euphemisms blooming all over. The First Lady is a smug, dull-witted nut.

I think that this is more a result of feminism and its sex-crazed evils than anything to do with size.

Bingo, part two. Except, for many women, the extra pounds do make them less attractive to others. Some can be resentful about that and dive into feminist vulgarity, because they thinks it's the only way to get attention.

"There are people who are, no doubt unlike any of your relatives, unattractive in the way they carry extra weight. In addition, all body types bring their special temptations."

Don’t insinuate that you know anything about my family. Don’t insinuate that they are unattractive.

Read my statement, then yours, paying close attention to prefixes like "un."

And as far as I know the only temptation that fat people have is overeating. To say only fat women use sex as an agenda is a blatant falsehood.

That's why I didn't say it.

Again, why focus on her weight?

It's a phenomenon. Women who do what she does all seem to be fat. But why concern yourself with the question if you're a) not unattractive; b) not a feminist; and c) not someone who uses sex as an agenda? This isn't about you.

Feminism is the problem.

I think you're correct.

Thanks for taking the time to reply so thorougly to my post. I am glad that we can agree that feminism is the root of the problem.

As I noted in a separate post, I caught my misreading error after I had posted that, and again, I apologize.

I do see your point; there are indeed the “fat feminist” trends out there, such as that god awful site “feministing.” However, there are also plenty of non-fat feminists.

I can see your side of the argument, and while I agree with many points, I still think that bringing size into the equation is unnecessary. However, I sincerely thank you for sharing your full thoughts on the matter and working with me on understanding your viewpoints. You have definitely made me think, and I appreciate that.
