Democratic Insiders View Romney as Obama's Main Threat
National Journal ^ | August 4, 2011 | James A. Barnes and Peter Bell

With the economy sputtering, Democratic political operatives view former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the main Republican threat to President Obama's reelection, according to this week's National Journal Political Insiders Poll.

Democratic Insiders see Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has not yet declared whether or not he will run for president, as the second strongest against Obama. A separate poll of Republican insiders, released Thursday, also showed Perry as Romney's main GOP challenger.

That’s funny. Since Obama is obviously toast, I thought Romney is the REPUBLICANS GREATEST THREAT!

Ya know, it depends on the day (who the Dems see as a threat). Hell, they see the average hard-working STRAIGHT American as a threat!

Anyway, it’s funny, you can tell when the Dem talking points have been handed out,,they get echoed in two or three different “ways” at the same venue. Take POLITICO for example: with all the stock market hooplah, the jobs numbers and the bad news about the GDP,,POLITICO runs headline articles on the Huntsman camp...then side articles on the inside scoop for the Huntsman camp,,,and the another article about how the Huntsman camp is a distraction for the GOP, etc. It’s hilarious how a liberal rag site tries to portray themselves as getting an honest scoop from a conservative source - anywhere!

The next day, it’s multiple articles about Palin,,using different angles but the subject is the same.

Gingrich and Palin are favorites when they really don’t want to talk about Obama. The biggest Dem theme echoed in ALL Dem chambers (talk shows to print to blogs) is,,”Obama will win but it really depends on who the Republicans put up as a candidate.” That is just so precious...as if Obama has a chance against anyone. The DEMS are royally ticked (in my opinion) that they are having to wait so long to hear who the GOP front-runner is,,they are really wanting to tear someone apart (it’s their nature). They are not happy that the GOP has not put forth a standard bearer. They are all waiting, the unions, the media butt kissers, the talking heads, the academics,,,they are waiting to hear who they should viciously attack. They don’t like using their resources to attack everyone, which is what is happening now. I love it that they are so itchy......I hope the GOP keeps them waiting even longer!

Nominate him right away!

The Dem insiders are praying hard to Gaia that Romney gets the nod. If there is a pushover the the Republican field, it’s Romney.

I’m a Bachmann supporter but just about anyone in the race should be able to beat Obama at this point.

I don’t know about Romney. But McCain would clearly give him a run for his money. Or what about Bob Dole? Is he still alive?

At this point.

But, with a Billion Dollars to spend and his large, influential campaign staff (the media), don’t think for an instant beating him will be easy.

This waiting game is so good to see from the Republicans for a change, we just seem to think politics is a hobby not a War! Surprise is one of the best offensives...we wait they sweat!
