??????????

Are you saying Khamis Gaddafi is a child? Because he’s not. He’s a 28-year old man, not a child.

Are you suggesting that Khamis Gaddafi is a civilian, or a non-combatant? Because he’s not. He’s the commander of the 32nd Brigade of the Libyan Army. As a military commander commanding troops on the battlefield, Khamis Gaddafi is a legitimate military target regardless of who his father is.

Khamis was hardly a "child" in any sense other than having been fathered by Gaddafi. He commands his own special forces unit.

I understood early on this son is much like his father Gaddafi. .... known to be ruthless like his dad. Would be a good thing for them to have gotten him. And isn't his Brigade the one Gaddafi depends on the most?

We could get a long way out of our debt is we just taxed religions

If a church is running a business it does pay taxes on that.

Kind of hard to tax a bunch of people sitting in a pew listening to a preacher. Nothing taxable there.

Another reason I support churches that do not register with the IRS.

And they killed him within days, not in weeks or months...

Are you referring to son Khamis as a child. He was an adult man head of the elite Khamis Brigade, a very ruthless military unit. It was currently detailed to crush the uprising in the Nafusa Mountains south of Tripoli and retake the border crossing into Tunisia which the rebels are holding to resupply their communities and fighters. If true this makes up a little for the death of General Younis a defector helping the rebels in Benghazi. Here is a link describing some of the very complicated politics of the murder and investigation. The Judge handling the investigation seems a reasonable sort.

Thanks gleeaikin for keeping me updated. Wondering if, this time, there will be a confirmation anytime soon. Would be a good thing, if has happened.

Wasn’t one of them killed when Reagan dropped a bomb on his tent? (They should know by now not to go backyard camping in Daddy’s tent)

RE: "The Judge handling the investigation seems a reasonable sort."
It will be a testament of sorts as how they conduct their understandings of the rule of law. Of course I don't subscribe to the WSJ, therefore I could only read the intro.

Here are some updates on Libya. A reporter managed to get into an officially (Gaddafi) off limits Christian church in Tripoli and get opinions and and comments from the parishoners.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/07/world/africa/07tripoli.html

After days and weeks of organizing and gathering strength, forces in the Nafusa mountains are taking towns on the road north to Tripoli.

http://www.nrtoday.com/article/20110807/API/1108070558&ParentProfile=1055

With effective air action by RAF/NATO, the rebels from Misrata now seem in control of Zlitan, the next town west from Misrata on the coast road to Tripoli.

I checked to see if there was any further info on the death of Khamis. In March after he was reported dead he was soon seen on state TV. No report of seeing him on TV yet at this time.

As numerous countries in Africa and the Middle East deteriorate further, the fog increases while those who want to see a solution to the conflict are quieted, which leaves doubt of improvement for the world as a whole, as more confusion enters into the mix, and heard are the words; Any movement is dangerous without consensus, and with consensus any movement has repercussions, so let's spend more money. As the Rule of Law deteriorates further, around the globe, one who seeks peace becomes nearly nonexistent, and more weapons are fired, more bombs are dropped, and more innocent suffer, and the New World Order marches forward. Must be by design, for should solutions be offered, those solutions are quickly taken off the table. Another cup of coffee is the call of the body, thus no more boring thoughts are offered.

Thanks for the update gleeaikin.

I continue to think this rebellion will go on for years. I will be a bit surprised if for some reason Gaddafi would actually fold.

Well it may go on for a while, but conditions are getting really uncomfortable in Tripoli. No electricity for 3 days in spots and temperature 40C (104f). See details below.

Meanwhile, the rebels continue to reconsititute after the killing of their General. Still no word on Khamis. The fighting rebels continue their advances from the south and from the east. The previous story reported that the Qataris supplied the rebels fighting for Zlintan with more ammunition.
