Let them go for it. It will create problems for North Korea and China. Probably would affect the balance of power in the region that would benefit both Japan as well as America.

...actually if Japan doesn’t become strong, AND QUICK, they will get cleaned off the planet, for the Chinese (and Koreans for that matter) have LONG memories.
Good for Japan...if our big goal now is to disarm and become a Third world hell-hole, Japan will NEED to step up and take care of their own needs. Hopefully South Korea and Taiwan (and even Vietnam, now) will figure out the same, in time.
