Obama officials attack S&P's credibility after downgrade

The Obama administration attacked the credibility of the analysis underlying Standard & Poor's decision to downgrade the United States' top credit rating on Friday, saying it had found a $2 trillion error.

S&P was forced to remove the number from its analysis after Treasury officials discovered that the rating agency's estimates of the government's discretionary spending was $2 trillion too high, sources familiar with the discussions said.

He may be the first President to get a two-fer. S&P hinted this might not be the last downgrade in the next 12-18 months.

Obama's a real record-breaking, transitional figure. Hopefully, history remembers he with all the credit he deserves.

Oh my, the first comment at Reuters is a hoot. Um, mars to liberals...doesn’t matter how many ‘good deeds’ you think you’ve done...S&P doesn’t care about that. This isn’t the public school system where you get an “A” cuz you were a good little citizen and planted a tree. LOL... sigh.

Greta VanSustern’s right there along with him. Neil Cavuto gave her a couple of pretty good smackdowns tonight.

By no means am I laughing at the downgrade as that is NEVER a good thing. However, what is funny is the same IDIOTS who voted for this POS are in the same boat as the people who didn’t vote for him. In other words, they too are subject to % rate increases to their mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, etc.

They made their bed and now they too have to lay in it.

PAYBACK is a bit*h as now we’re all affected!

They are birds of a feather; the US supported both when we had a “Cold War”. Generals Pinochet and Galtieri (Argentina) secured the “southern cone” while we dealt with the top; South American generals were victims of the peace (where we pretended we didn’t know they were killing their Communists, after the USSR fell).

"Obama will send in a few union thugs to bust some knee caps. Problem solved. Make them an offer they can’t refuse."

You have your orders . . . Standard and Poors will regret they pulled down our AAA rating . . . I want that rating back up! Where's Michelle? Someone tell her I want my cookies and milk!

Does anyone have a cigarette? Kools would be good.

“Watch Obama send his union thug buddies over to S&P to try to “Reason” with them. Obama just can’t stand the fact that socialism does NOT work..he just can’t get it through his head”

BHO loves that we got downgraded. I don’t know why lots more people can’t face the ugly fact that his entire mission - all his acts both here and abroad - is to take our country (and us) DOWN.

It's funny because now if S&P changes their downgrade back to AAA then investors will bail on them as unreliable and able to be pushed around by Obama.

I was referring to Allende and Pinochet in Chile. That was way before the USSR fell. We acknowledged the commies were dissapearing but couldn’t do much about it.......and at that time, we didn’t want to do anythin about it.

We might need a Pinochet in the USA.

I 100 percent agree with you. His mother was a communist..she thought him to believe that America was an evil country that needed to become more like Europe. Obama loves every minute of this. This was the “Transformation” that he wanted and now he has it. Never in our lifetime have we experienced this before, not til Obama came along. Every time I see someone who voted for this prick I want to smack them in the face and say “Are you happy now?”

“LOL....he’s done : )”

Tax cheat Tim Geithner is next to go under the bus. The White House is already denying any “pushback” against S&P by them, saying it was all the Treasury Department having dialogues with S&P.

I understand what you were referring to, and we knew EVERYTHING about it. We armed them to the teeth to fight their Bolsheviks (including “Che” - who they did justice to), and years later we left them hanging (”Cold War orphans”) by pretending we didn’t know what we subsidized - see Gen. Manuel Noriega. These Christians prevented us from fighting a Vietnam War in Latin America, and our leftists left them to rot...

They are right to look to Red China for guidance - they haven’t been date-raped there yet.

We will be seeing such things soon. We’re going to see frustrations taken out on the idiots who still support him.
“Skermishes” I think they might be called.

Oh my, the first comment at Reuters is a hoot.

I've been reading the S&P press release and from what I've been reading what is going to have to be politically devastating for the dems is that S&P puts 98% of the blame on the Administration's and Congress' feet for not lowering our spending even more. I see very little talk in the Release about "failure to raise taxes or revenue" and mostly talk about our national debt and how it's going to keep rising.

I don't see hardly anything that Obama or the Dems can pin blame directly on the Tea Party or Repubs. It looks to me like S&P squarely places the blame at Obama's and the dem's feet.

You can't blame anyone for downgrading our credit-worthiness, nor can you expect the Administration to have any credibility by asserting we have 2 trillion dollars in the penumbra or in the seat cushions of the couch.

They do factor in some intangibles which is why they used the word "uncertainty" in their report. This kind of response from the WH might make S&P reassess our rating ... down another notch.

I’ll never forget after the election how my cousin(far left loon) and his Mom(My Aunt) called our house hooting and howling about how Obama won..rubbing it in my face when they knew how much I hated his guts..now my aunt doesn’t even mention Obama’s name anymore. Ever since Obamacare passed and she found out she would be screwed over by it she doesn’t even mention his name, like he doesn’t even exist..whenever someone talks politics around her she doesn’t say a word
