The day the law took effect, so did a policy at the University of Rochester. Same-sex partners who work for the university now have to be married by June 30 if they want to keep their partners benefits.
The unfortunate side is there are a lot of families that will lose their health care benefits that have been relying on domestic partner benefits, said Scott Fearing, program director for the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley.

The Gay and Lesbian Community will now protest because they are losing their SPECIAL rights. Seems they want their cake and eat it too.

Along with gay marriage comes gay divorce...spousal maintenance, child support, etc. Sometimes “equal rights” aren’t much fun.

No families are going to lose their benefits.

...in the days of Lot, they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. Luke 17:28-30
The Lord is coming soon.

Ironic ain’t it?
Who doesn’t see that ‘gay marriage’ was contrived by divorce lawyers?
The drama of illicit ‘romance’ will soon disappear and the couples who ‘just wanted to be like everyone else’ will soon be ‘just like everyone else’. Captives of dysfunctional coupling and getting divorced in droves.

Sad but true...and who will really suffer...the children they adopted. As an aside I find that boys with gay dads engage in reckless activities so they can prove they are manly and not poufters like their “dads”.

Yeah, maybe the “authorities” and family court will now recognize Parental Alienation as the child abuse it really is, usually on the part of the custodial “mother” against the non-custodial “father.
There’s no more “evil abusive dad” and “innocent as the wind driven snow mom” involved in these cases anymore.

You are correct. IMO, what is crazy about same sex marriage issue, is most gay couples do not want to get married. All gay couples I have ever known have very dysfunctional relationships and I have never seen a relationship last beyond a couple of years. I am sure there are exceptions but the bottom line is the gay lifestyle community let their small minority frame the discussion and now they will pay the price of unintended consequences.....

All kinds of government agencies do the domestic partner bit....and I’m sure there are all kinds of domestic partner “agreements” giving the shaft to the agencies by wriggling out benefits which are not due, i.e., best buds are not necessarily domestic partners.

They get until June 30, 2012!!! to get "married?"!!! Almost a year?!!!
I'd call that special treatment.

No families are going to lose their benefits. Don't be so sure of that. Close friends of mine who work in the insurance industry tell me that some major insurance carriers are doing exactly what this article says. They are basically using the "gay marriage" laws around the country as an excuse to cancel insurance policies that are in place for "domestic partners."

Hey, some of them have to get two wedding dresses! That takes time.

Its all drama (put on by the Drama Queens). They “want” the right and benefits of marriage, but not the responsbilities. Above all, they want to shove their gay lifestyle down everyone’s throat. They cannot stand it that some view it as immoral, hence the push for marriage.
But you watch, in a few years they will allow both same sex partners and married couples to get married benefits. For both Homos and Heteros.

Wonder how all this will work on tax filing also?
Certainly govt will want to max the revenue aspects of this.
To: nascarnation
I’ve wondered that myself. They’ll probably protest against the “marriage penalty.”
