See. The GOP is now responsible for the post offices closing in your district. They hate government so much that they would let that happen.

Not sure why they would do that intentionally, or why we would care. This isn’t like the attack on GOP donor-owned card dealers where they took private property in a vicious socialist grab. If they are purposely going to GOP areas and closing more profitable locations in exchange for leaving less profitable one, they are cutting their own nose. The organization is already on the verge of collapse as it is.

I don’t have rural delivery where I am but our post office is one of those targeted for closure. Yippie a 10 mile round trip to get mail.

I’d rather cut postal service days down to 4 per week.

This still isn’t going to have all that much impact until they get up near 25,000 closures. The first 15,000 or so simply don’t have very much revenue, or workforce, or mail. They work more like a drag weight on rural letter carrier service.

I keep a UPS store box and let the mail pile up there and check it every couple of weeks unless I am expecting something.

Well, now, isn’t THAT nice!

Where the heck am I supposed to go now when I want to stand in line for hours in a dingy room, awaiting my turn for the pleasure of speaking to some union boob who moves in slow motion and speaks about as much English as my dog?

Post Office management is terrible. My local post office had a drop box along the side street where you could easily drop letters from your car window.

Recently, the post office moved the drop box to the parking lot. Now you need to park your car, get out of the car, and drop your letters into the box.

The parking lot is quite busy and this needlessly adds to the congestion.

Wages and salaries for Postal Workers needs to be cut until it reaches the point where no one wants the job. I suspect most post office jobs would be filled at 50% current salary.

USPS might have a better success rate if they hired English-speaking carriers. We’ve Japanese and Hispanic carriers who could neither read nor speak English funcitonally. How they passed the exam, I’ll never know. (Although I do know that minorities get points added like a golf handicap from the git-go. At least they did when I took the exam back in the ‘80s.)

More than 2,500 of these post offices are in GOP districts while about 1,000 are in districts represented by Democrats, according to a review

This is not really surprising considering vast number of brain dead liberals live in high density population areas like cities where there are large PO already there that service many people

Plus many of these PO that are closing are small rural areas that simply don't pay for themselves.

It would not bother me in the least if they cut mail service to twice a week......95% of what the mailman puts in my mailbox I throw out before I walk into the house

The closures would save about $200 million annually for the ailing USPS, which has urged the end of its Saturday service.
GOOD! A lot the bad, get your blood boiling mail, comes on Saturday and you can't call anyone to complain until Monday. So you sit there for a day and a half stewing.

So ending Saturday deliveries is fine by me.

Then all you have to worry about is getting your Friday mail early so you can call the asshats that day -- like before 5:00 pm Central Time :-)
