A member of The Greater Phoenix Tea Party politely Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) to apologize for calling Tea Party members in the House and Senate "hobbits." McCain, who was quoting the Wall Street Journal, made his comments on the Senate floor.
"I am sorry if it was misunderstood. I am not sorry for what I said," McCain said to a heated audience.
"I mean, why should I when its the facts," Senator McCain added.

Only read a few comments but it looks like no one read the book. Hobbits were unlikely heroes who, beset with a monumental task they did not choose against an evil no one would face, pressed on against insurmountable odds and saved the world from an all consuming evil. What is so bad about that? Sounds like TEA party folks to me.
McCain claiming his statement was factual is weird to the max. Perhaps he should be checked by a doctor, "how many fingers am I holding up?"
McCain and the rest of the RINOs have nothing but respect for Obama and speak of him with deference - new tone and all that. Their opinion of the average citizen who thinks our credit card might be maxed out is nothing but unbridled contempt and spitting viciousness.
Your job is to work your ass off, pay every thing you make and every thing you own (meaning every beat of your heart) to your wiser, smarter, elite, overlords and then STFU. You are no different than a plantation slave to them or some stupid member of the Matrix. Welcome to the Brave New World "Coppertop."
LOL....with McCain and the rest of the RINO wing of the 'Pubbie party as Saruman and his gang. It fits. With Obama and the Democrats as Sauron and his Orcs.
You are correct except that the context was McCain quoting from a Wall Street Journal editorial the point of which was to portray TEA party people as living in some imaginary wonderland rather than the real world.
In the world of McCain and the WSJ a one percent "cut" after a 7% increase is practical politics but a balanced budget amendment or a real cut or spending freeze rather than a Washington fantasy cut is something that only Trekkies and imbeciles could support.
I consider it an honor to be called a “hobbit”.
Best explanation of McPains actions short of treason, his precious power is being destroyed. Good one. I guess we can call him Gollum from now on.
John McCain, I am not sorry for not voting for you in the 2000 Republican primaries. I am not sorry for staying home in the 2008 elections. Your terrible. Please retire.
Get over it. It sounds cute. I thought everyone loved hobbits.
McCain stands by what he says, doesn’t back down or equivocate; I like it.
He also saw nothing wrong with his statement a couple of months ago that illegals have been setting fires along the U.S.-Mexico border.
FReepers applauded.
How soon they forget!! It was McCain who chose Sarah Palin as his VP pick.
Although, according to the book “Game Change,” it was Cindy McCain who wanted Sarah as VP.
It’s ironic that Palin daughter, Bristol, ended up trashing that same Cindy... the one responsible for introducing herself and her family to unending fame and considerable fortune.
It was Sarah, also, who trashed McCain operatives in her “tell all” book. And yet the McCains have never shed even the faintest dark light on the Palins.
typecasting works for me.
AMEN!
...which was 'after' "McCain operatives" trashed Palin.
Speaking of Lord of the Rings..checkout this wedding using one of the Characters...

John “Wormtongue” McCain.
Why hate McCain when the voters of Arizona keep voting him back into office....
