Source: Democrats Murray, Baucus, Kerry on Super Committee
National Journal ^ | August 9, 2011 | 5:28 p.m. | Susan Davis

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will appoint Democratic Sens. Patty Murray of Washington, Max Baucus of Montana, and John Kerry of Massachusetts to the new super committee tasked with finding $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction by November 23, according to a senior Democratic aide familiar with Reid’s decision, which is expected to be made public as early as Wednesday.

Additionally, Murray is expected to co-chair the committee, officially named the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, along with a still unnamed House Republican. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to a request for comment.

Reid’s decision to tap Murray will likely be met with scrutiny, as she is also chairing the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee for the 2012 election cycle. But she is also a member of leadership, a senior member of the Budget Committee, and a woman on what is likely to be a male-dominated committee.

Have no fear! I'm sure McConnell will put three STRONG conservatives on the committee, probably Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Scott Brown. /sarcasm off

It probably doesn’t matter..it will be for show...they won’t do anything that may be recommended. Like the last committee.

Here’s my predicted lineup that McConnell will send in there.

McCain, Snowe, and in a show of bi-partisanship they’ll ask Ben Nelson to fill in as the 3rd “Republican”. Then we’ll get taken to the cleaners, GOP will claim victory, and the Dems will say the GOP slit the throats of the elderly.

The dims put up the biggest partisan kooks they could find.
Don’t forget the purpose for the supercommittee. When the committee can’t agree on a deal, the automatic triggers kick in, defunding medicare and the military. They want to defund medicare so that the repubs can be blamed. They want to defund the military because they want to further weaken this country. That is the dims ultimate goal and the repubs are walking right into their trap.

Lucy and the football all over again.

That Super Committee was one of the dumbest things the Party of Stupid ever agreed to.

McConnell’s idea to give Obama authority to raise the debt ceiling was another dumb idea.

-- I'm not sure even the Democrats could do worse than this --

Oh yeah? Combine Murray with any two from this list: Boxer, Durbin, Franken, Harkin, Lautenberg, and Stabenow.

So? She’s also one of the dumbest people in the Senate.

Maybe we can have a guest appearance by Carol Mosley Braun, who attended Harvard (for a JFK school of government symposium).
