Source: Democrats Murray, Baucus, Kerry on Super Committee
National Journal ^ | August 9, 2011 | 5:28 p.m. | Susan Davis

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will appoint Democratic Sens. Patty Murray of Washington, Max Baucus of Montana, and John Kerry of Massachusetts to the new super committee tasked with finding $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction by November 23, according to a senior Democratic aide familiar with Reid’s decision, which is expected to be made public as early as Wednesday.

Additionally, Murray is expected to co-chair the committee, officially named the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, along with a still unnamed House Republican. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to a request for comment.

Reid’s decision to tap Murray will likely be met with scrutiny, as she is also chairing the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee for the 2012 election cycle. But she is also a member of leadership, a senior member of the Budget Committee, and a woman on what is likely to be a male-dominated committee.

Well at least if this committee doesn’t work Obama will be able to throw Patty under the short bus.

No chance of that with McConnell doing the picking. If we’re lucky we’ll get Hatch but that’s a long shot given he’s turned conservative over the past few months.

GOP will claim victory

and Oboma can claim the economy belongs to the Republicans from that point on.

This whole committee was a set up. Because this is a center right country, and the tax slaves are already over taxed, the TEA party members should be chosen, and should work only on behalf of the taxpayers. They have to speak for the majority, or they'll lose.
Because the socialists will NEVER agree to putting the freeloaders on their side into a job, they'll have to speak for them and them alone.
Who wants more freeloading other than the far, far left? That's what got us into this mess in the first place!

Not too knowledgable about Baccus but the other two numbskulls will do EXACTLY what they are told to do.

Can’t have any independent, thoughtful, incisive determinations can they.

Too bad they couldn’t get Dodd back for this. Then it would be perfect.

But wait... they missed a chance to put Al Franken in this comedy.

Will Murray break out her Chuck Taylor's for this Super Committee? A special occasion requires a classic sneaker.

Yep. It's a set up, and the dumbass Republicans ignored the TEA party prophets who tried to warn them.
Never dance with the devil, because you'll always get burnt. The Republicans never learn.

“Well the good news for Democrats, now over half the country can identify a picture of John Kerry. The bad news, the majority still thinks he’s the dad from ‘The Munsters.”’ —Jay Leno

“They say John Kerry is the first Democratic presidential candidate in history to raise $50 million in a three-month period. Actually, that’s nothing. He once raised $500 million with two words: ‘I do.’” —Jay Leno

“They had a profile of John Kerry on the news and they said his first wife was worth around $300 million and his second wife, his current wife, is worth around $700 million. So when John Kerry says he’s going after the wealthy in this country, he’s not just talking. He’s doing it!” –Jay Leno

“An Internet rumor claims that John Kerry had an affair with a young woman. When asked if this was similar to the Clinton- Lewinsky scandal, a spokesman said ‘Close, but no cigar.’” –Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update”

Makes me really wonder about the majority of voters in Washington (Murray and Cantwell - really?), Kalifornia (Boxer and Feinstein - really?), Minnesota (Franken - really?), and Maryland (Mikulski - really?).

In other words, everything the Dems do on the committee will be geared toward re-election efforts.

That's the message...loud and clear.

Oh, and Murray will give Kerrey lots of face-time since he is up for re-election.

And, of course the other MA Senate seat (Brown's) is in play also.
