Peshawar 10 August 2011 The Political authorities of Mohmand agency has constructed three flood protection walls to help secure a large population of Ghalanai Khaas and Nadir Shah Koroona, Tehsil Halim Zai, from the dangers of future floods. This would also protect twenty acre of agriculture land and a government veterinary hospital from floods.
According to FATA Secretariat Report that the community of Ghalanai Khaas, Tehsil Halim Zai were facing serious difficulties during monsoons and other rainy seasons, as the waters flow through the agricultural fields, ruining the standing crops and severely affecting the livelihoods of the local community.
At the request of the communities of the area, the Political Administration prioritized the project and erected two flood protection walls each of 122 and 126-meter long and 2.6-meter high which will directly protect 20 acres of fertile farmland from flood and a main source of drinking water benefiting about 1200 individuals of the area.
Similarly, political authorities have also completed the construction work of the 282-ft long flood protection wall in Nadir Shah Koroona, Tehsil Halim Zai. This flood protection wall will directly protect houses and a Government veterinary hospital from the devastation of floods. The people of the area expresses satisfaction over the development work and thanked the political administration for demonstrating swiftly to their much needed demand
