Public Shut Out of Presidential Appearance in Holland on Thursday

Tuesday, August 09, 2011 5 a.m. EDT

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC News) - The White House says that there will be no general public appearances for President Obama when he arrives in Holland on Thursday afternoon to tour the JCI-Saft lithium-ion battery-making plant on 48th Street. He is expected to promote new technologies towards his auto fuel standards goals. JCI had received a 299 million-dollar federal grant to refurbish the former Meadowbrook facility. It’s the second trip to Holland in 13 months for Mr. Obama; he spoke at the groundbreaking of the LG-Chem battery-making plant last July.

Michiganders are typically outspoken. In the current environment obviously Barry wishes to avoid that.

Is there nothing more pressing to attend to in this country

than visiting a battery company?

Who is advising Barry?

“Michiganders are typically outspoken.”

Northern Michiganders seem to be good people. It’s just that area around Detroit that fouls things up... that and Ann Arbor! ;)

Oh, Holland, Michigan.

If it were Holland , I was gonna say he’s not allowing the public to attend because wooden shoes being thrown at him would hurt.

OBAMAGEDDON SUCKS!

Oh please....You know they're making a video for the election ahead....And they'll decide whether to use it depending on what happens with the company.

Some of the companies he "helped" have filed for bankruptcy.

Our stupid President on another one of his fool’s errands.

How is it he is NEVER where he needs to be, doing and saying what he needs to?

At first I figured he didn’t want anyone seeing him “burn a dobbie”...then I realized this is Holland, Michigan.

Yeah, “the Obama effect.” Sort of like being on the cover of SI. The employees there must be thinking “oh carp, there goes my job.”

He has HIS OWN Propaganda Department now, Remember?

Why let some reporter embarrass you when you can just produce YOUR OWN agitprop, which the gays in the MSM will gladly regurgitate unedited...

The company opened their first manufacturing plant in FRANCE in 2008. This “REWARD” was to get them to open one in the USA. I’m sure they’ll go bankrupt before they make money...which they predict will be in 2020.

Should make a great video for his opponent, if he or she will use it.

Probably no press either. Holland is a pretty conservative town. I am sure he will not be getting any standing ovations. If you do not have a Van in front of your name and blonde hair you are, well, and outsider.

Want to know a good one? This plant was formed/started by the Prince family of Holland, MI. Prince sound familiar? Think Blackwater and Amway.

This company is totally dependent on “the future of” Green Cars....and they’re not flying off the lots.

JCI had received a 299 million-dollar federal grant to refurbish the former Meadowbrook facility.

Numbers like that should arouse suspicion.

It was not a $300 million grant, it was not a $287 million grant, nope, it was a $299 million grant.

Almost as if there were some $300 million threshhold at which greater scrutiny comes into play.

There may be nothing to it, but it's worth asking the question...

I am married to the child of Yoopers who grew up in Metro Detroit. Have been pretty much all over the state except for Traverse City. None of them are shy about expressing their opinions.

Yes, Prince & DeVos families; both families are billionaires. Think this tidbit makes the news?
