Top cops: Illegal alien cons must go
Boston Herald ^ | August 11, 2011 | Dave Wedge

Two tough-on-crime southeastern Massachusetts lawmen are openly defying Gov. Deval Patrick’s push to end a controversial crackdown on illegal immigrants, pledging to work with the feds to deport undocumented foreign lawbreakers that land in their jails.

Bristol Sheriff Thomas Hodgson and Plymouth Sheriff Joseph McDonald are moving forward with plans to join the federal Secure Communities program, despite Patrick’s campaign earlier this summer to cancel the state’s participation, the Herald has learned.

“There’s nothing he can do,” Hodgson said of Patrick. “He can complain or do whatever he wants. He can challenge me legally. I don’t frankly care. I didn’t get elected by the governor.”

Deporting criminal aliens is hardly a crackdown. It is a cost saving measure. I'm sure most of these cities are hoping that when these criminals jump the fence again that they go somewhere else. I would deport and leave the warrant open so they will get picked up right away if they return and give other communities the motivation to deport the guy, as well.

I love that sheriffs in this country are elected and have to answer to their constituents. I think that the attorney general of the US should be elected. At the very least he should have to be reaffirmed by congress every year.

Florida should be called Flexico there are so many mexicans here. I work with dozens and dozens of them. They love to speak spanish amongst themselves when there are english only speakers in the room. They are very nice people, in general, but this isn’t the same place I grew up in. Even the flyers in the newspapers are in spanish.

The report also found more than half of those deported were listed as “non-criminal.”...If they were deported, I guess they were not citizens. If they were not citizens, had no passport then they were criminals

But, but, but according to the good governor, illegals that have been ONLY charged with minor crimes are being deported. Evidently, the citizens of Mass. have to put up with illegals comitting minor crimes until they decide to step up to the major leagues and rape or murder a citizen. Well, the idiots in Mass deserve the govt they’ve got, and zero sympathy from me.

I don't know why it is so difficult for people to understand, crossing the border at other than a designated place and or crossing without the proper papers is a violation of a federal criminal statute and is a crime. It's not civil, like idiots such as BOR claim, it's criminal with a penalty of six months in prison for a first offense and two years in prison for a subsequent offense.

Illegal aliens are all criminals.

“The governor’s position is nothing short of irresponsible,”

It’s a hell of a lot more than that, in as much as it aids, abets or facilitates all the fraud illegals commit as they invade our nation. YOU try aiding, abeting or facilitating fruad...

One nice thing about our practice of electing sherriffs is they aren’t “beholden” to anyone but the electorate. >PS
