I told my kids this. In more simple terms. You have someone that is in a group of people that has spent all of the money you gave them, and they now have to borrow money because they wasted the money you gave them. And they keep borrowing, and now you “owe” them even more money so they can pay back their debts.
Now kids - it makes sense to put these same people that wasted all of your money into a group of people that is going to fix this problem - right!?
