NEW YORK (AP) — Aligning himself with a public fed up with economic uncertainty and Washington gridlock, President Barack Obama declared Thursday: "There is nothing wrong with our country. There is something wrong with our politics."

His toughly worded message — he said there was frustration in his voice, in case anyone missed the point — came amid a series of polls showing that people are disgusted with political dysfunction and are dispensing blame all around, including on Obama.

Obama aired his frustration with the ways of Washington at an event in Michigan before pivoting to his re-election campaign and a pair of big-money fundraisers in New York City.

He delivered a condensed version of that message at a fundraiser at the lower Manhattan home of movie producer Harvey Weinstein, where celebrities Gwyneth Paltrow and Jimmy Fallon, were among the approximately 50 guests who paid $35,800 each to attend.

Yeah, its still a democracy, despite his best efforts. If it was a dictatorship he obviously would not think there was anything wrong with it.

0bama can’t see what’s wrong with our politics because he is standing too close to the problem.

Was a republic... Now we have rule by vote, and fiat. When policy is set in closed door sessions and “super-congress” or by polls, it is Far far cry from a representative republic.

Even though it is not being run as a republic at this time, it is still “The republic for which we stand”

Now, if we can only get most of those Socialist impostors calling themselves Democrats out of there in the next couple of elections, perhaps we can return to what our founders created.

It sickens me to know what has become of us in this period of this once proud land. Hopefully, we will be able to turn a lot of this around if we can elect the right people in the upcoming elections.

We will also need to write new textbooks for our public and college school kids, because they are being taught a bunch of garbage at the present time.

Yet another idiotic statement. He could help improve the political situation by resigning.

These elitist celebrities who know so much better than we do paid $35,000 to attend this event?? Yes, something definitely is wrong with our political situation when it takes so much money to run for office.

One of the Blue Collar comedians, Bill Engvall, has a great routine where he talks about people who say stupid things. He says they should wear a sign saying, "I'm stupid." When someone says something stupid, he says, "Here's your sign."

Gwyneth Paltrow, here's your sign.

Jimmy Fallon, here's your sign.
