Have read, and am not sure I agree, that Britain is that much lower than America or, say. France, in that England’s is a rabid, slavering, equal-opportunity, feral powderkeg, versus American and French self-segregation that often results in loosely-racially-based, violent urban nihilism.
There’s a difference in the US and Britain as compared to how we’re meeting the problems. In the US, Obama is making us furious, so we are banding together, protesting, voting, nominating, and this time around, not waiting for the established Republicans to do something about it. We are out there, changing things without sitting back and relying on someone else to dirty their hands and put themselves in the firing line. We now have candidates that are truly grassroots and truly out there swinging their bat for America. We have social class, but it’s based on people like Ford, Carnegie, DuPont, basically working men who made something of themselves. In Britain it’s by birht and over there you can make billions, but still be excluded from the true elite.
In Britain, the people there are trained ot rely not just on welfare, but the government. They are not brought up to pull up thier bootstraps, they are taught to climb or stay in the social class they were born in. If their leadership doesn’t make things better, the country stays in the quagmire of the problems that develop. Rioting is just waht happens when there is no safety valve, like we have here in the US. In the US our safety valve is self reliance, voting, polls, and the fact that we have the ability to run for office, like anyone else. You don’t have to be born into a political family and actually, working your way up is considered a virtue more than a taint on your background.
