I guess I'm from the "far right" because I question Perry on this issue too.

He was a democrat - he's been pro illegal in the past - he's got the support of the pro illegal republicans in Texas.

I am way too leery of a politician who grew up in a border state. They are pre disposed to be sympathetic to illegal aliens. Yes, there are exceptions like Brewer but I don't trust Perry.

Unless I see some concrete evidence to the contrary he will not get my support in a primary.

Don’t be so sure you’re far right. The first thread I saw this morning suggested that anyone who asked such questions was probably an under cover “pinko”. LOL

Obviously team Perry is figuring out that St Rick has problems.

Not trying to pick a fight — And not sure how you line up with Reagan, but...

“As president of the Screen Actors Guild, Reagan became embroiled in disputes over the issue of Communism in the film industry; his political views shifted from liberal to conservative.”

I think the rest is history!!!

I’ve question GWB, and McCain on it as well.

Oh well, it is a label I will wear proudly!

Here we go again.

I really dislike the border bots feeling like they own the conservative terrain on this.

Reagan signed amnesty and his is the revered icon of conservatism. Bush and Perry have done and said far less but they will be tarred and feathered on this.

I still do not believe giving the Democrats the House and Senate in 2006 was worth all this.

Honestly, which of the Republican candidates will be more strict than Perry? Will Perry be better than Obama?

I think the answers are fairly clear and yet there will be much internal bloodletting on this.

Notice the McAllen Texas posting.
I read the article and am trying to figure out why the Buffalo NY paper carries an AP story that I see has not basis for carrying the McAllen posting. Thas my neck of the woods and I don’t like Perry, but I like even less someone using the valley as his firing base when they don’t know poop from papas down here. A false location for a hit shot.

...how illegal immigrants have contributed to that success, adding as much as $17.7 billion a year to the state gross product...

Now, how do you suppose this completely UNBIASED rag came up with that figure? Did they deduct the billions LOST that go into supporting the illegals? How about the losses due to crime? I sort of doubt it.

This is what we see here in Texas. Don't know if it's enough for the hard-core out there.

http://governor.state.tx.us/initiatives/border/P10/

This along with the signing of a Voter ID law and a requirement for proof of citizenship to obtain a TX DL.

(an anti-sanctuary cities bill didn't pass due to lack of votes although the governor made it a high priority issue)

To say he's pro-illegal is being disingenuous.

If Perry signed a pledge agreeing to NEVER sign amnesty legislation as POTUS... AND to seal the Mezzican border with
US Army units..... then and only then would I vote for him.

Otherwise..... I say.. Adios Mofo! to Rick Perry.

He could have muscled through the “sanctuary city” bill, that was in the legislative special session, but instead he caved to big Texas Republican Party donors, like Charles Butts of HEB Food stores, who want open borders.

Big business in Texas likes the taxpayers here subsidizing the education and health care costs for all their illegal slime employees.

Because when owning two mansions is just not enough, you
have to employ a bunch of cheap labor illegals so that you
can have three and a yacht too.

By the way... google “Adios Mofo!”. It’s pretty funny.

I definitely won’t vote for Perry. Not only is he pro-amnesty but he’s a liar for saying that he’s trying to stop illegals and the problem is all the federal government’s fault. Perry is inviting illegals over by giving them all kinds of benefits and refusing to enforce the immigration laws. Remove the incentive, make life living hell for the illegals and most of them won’t come.

Perry is the same as Obama about illegals. Both of them claim they are enforcing the laws, but all they mean is if an illegal commits a serious felony then they will be deported.

A man can be judged by the company he keeps. Perry was convinced to move from the Democratic Party to Republican by establishment RINO Karl Rove.

The question of the illegals is the whole ball of wax for the future of our country.

If they get amnesty and voting rights for the illegals, then eventually they will get their 60 Democrat senators and majority House control. It’s just a matter of time. California is the future.

If that happens, Obamacare will seem like a quaint capitalist program. We will go straight to single payer health care, and eventual nationalization of the banking and energy industries as well.

Socialism always and everywhere destroys what it controls, and it will destroy the USA too if it comes to power.

He is not a "pathway to citizenship" McCain/Bush amnesty guy.

In A December 2006 editorial, Gov. Perry wrote: "I would rather know who is crossing our border legally to work instead of not knowing who is crossing our border illegally to work. A guest worker program that provides foreign workers with an ID removes the incentive for millions of people to illegally enter our country. It also adds those workers to our tax base, generates revenue for needed social services and it can be done without providing citizenship."

"Open borders" and "amnesty" mean things and they don't accurately apply to Perry.

I recommend examining his record. At least with Perry we HAVE a long public executive record to tear apart unlike some candidates.

Sure Perry has spoken to La Raza, he has engaged Mexico, he has put Texas Rangers on the border, he has heavily criticized the feds, he has suggested using the Guard and drones on the border and he has tried to ban sanctuary cities (failed with TX House GOP).
