Wow, so all of that was a lie... or a pretty big bluff if Perry could organize more votes in a single day than Palin could in months.

“Wow, so all of that was a lie... or a pretty big bluff if Perry could organize more votes in a single day than Palin could in months.”

This is why it is so hard to take you seriously. It has already been explained to you in several posts that her on the ground-supporters deliberately did not make an organizational attempt; moreover, several overzealous attempts were squashed because we do not at all value Ames as politically necessary for her campaign.

Again, why are you so obsessed with her campaign if you think she is going to fail? Why are you being deliberately negative and obtuse? Even if you believe she is a better constitutional conservative than Perry or Romney, but cannot win because she and her supporters are lazy and unorganized...why don’t you just back and obsess over someone else such as Cain or Bachmann and promote them?

“We’re not pushing people at all to write in Sarah Palin’s name,” he told me. “We support the Straw Poll, and encourage everyone to attend because it’s a great event for the Republican Party here in Iowa. If people want to write in her name, of course we appreciate their doing so, but we’re not doing any push for votes in the Straw Poll, in any way. Nothing–we are not even sending an email out to our mailing list in the state encouraging people to do so. We are simply not focused on this. - Peter Singleton O4P

Why should they waste money (buying tickets) on a straw poll that rarely has any historical effect on the RealCaucus winner next year? Hmmmm!

I agree Minus. If there was so much grass roots support her people would have *unofficially* purchased a ticket and written her in. The excuses—they can’t show their hand, it’s very hush hush, no. All candidates know that being viewed as a serious candidate is important, not as a publicity seeking gadfly. Even for a meaningless straw poll in which incidentally Rick Perry didn’t participate either but still drew a significant number of votes.

I was glad McCain picked her, was impressed by her and hoped they would win for her sake more than his. But I still don’t think she’s ready for the top of the ticket. VP yes, thus setting her up for a run in 2020 with far more experience and credibility than she has now. Outside the FR echo chamber people are not impressed. Can a Conservative win? Yes. But the need to appeal to moderates and independents. She doesn’t.

So what you’re saying is—Perry, who organized for votes, was able to get more than Palin who didn’t?
