Like it or not, that slow West Texan drawl sounds to an Easterner, at least, like someone of lower than average IQ speaking. That’s part of why the media succeeded with the “W is stupid” meme—because that’s what he sounds like to someone used to a faster pace of speech. Perry further reinforces it with a lot of nonstandard English.

Now, W had Harvard and Yale degrees and his Eastern Establishment family pedigree, so GOP voters were able to overlook that. The question is whether someone without those, yes, ‘elite’ markers can come along after W and get people to hear him through his manner of speaking.

When I first became aware of Perry (earlier this year) I was thinking he could beat Obama. But the more I learn about him, the more uneasy I am. The Gardasil order concerns me. So does his stance on immigration.

“Numbers USA, a group that supports immigration control, gives Perry a “D-“ for his positions supporting amnesty, open borders, and opposing border security.”

http://www.patriotactionnetwork.com/forum/topics/texas-gov-rick-perry-on-illegal-immigration-border-security

But he would be better than Obama.

Bless your heart for your response. Once again, any conservative Texan who criticizes Perry gets called names. How juvenile. There are many long time FReeper Texans here who have tried to explain Perry's shortcomings but some refuse to take of the blinders. I held my nose with one hand and voted for him twice with the other. I don't relish doing it again. We can do better. You know him so well, how many times have you voted for him? Oh, never mind, you're from Louisiana which proves my point of out of staters knowing so much more than Texans do about the man.

“a whistling noise”

Thank you!

WTF is that? When I first heard Soetoro speak and hear that whistling noise, I thought “Is it possible this guy has ill-fitting dentures?” Seriously, that was my first reaction.

Maybe it’s an “Austian” accent...

I’d rather hear Yoko Ono “sing” for an hour than Soetoro speak for 5 minutes.

Agreed. He sounds normal to me too. We don’t have accents here! The Soros/Obama machine has had months to to put together their smear file on Perry. They attack the man’s accent rather than come at him on the issues. That tells me something. This is only the beginning, they had plenty of practice with Palin and they have honed their skills.

In New Hampshire, Romney has built up a strong base of support, and Huntsman has a team of staffers that is bigger than any of his challengers, though he is still battling for low name recognition.
I'm hoping that Huntsman will pull votes from Romney. Let them split the RINO vote, lowering both of their numbers, and that will help the more Conservative candidates.

Oh, he can take it. He once told a reporter “Adios, MOFO” and they tried to slam him with it but he just slammed harder.

The MSM is actually scared of Perry.

So who do you think is better who is electable? We don’t need to give the opposition any help thank you. If Perry is the candidate I am going to vote for him. I am going to cast a vote against Obama and make it count. I am not going to stamp my foot and waste my vote on a write-in candidate .

Soros was driving the car? Soros was given a warning ticket? Soros got out of the passenger seat? Soros got snotty with the officer? Soros was seate at the table and had to explain his actions? Wow, Soros is aging well and is taller than what I thought. Nice head of hair that Soros dude has. Can’t put my finger on it but he looks a lot like a guy I know in Austin. They say everyone has a double. Yep, that must be it.

Does anyone know which state has had the most Presidents.

I know Texas has had it's fair share. Which has the most?

Hell, I’d gladly take GWB over O and I didn’t even like Bush.

I only hope Perry’s team knows the American public has about a two-week memory at best. Bring back the stimulus (video of protests and all). Bring back the budgets that out-of-control Congress passed when the were the only game in town. Bring back Healthcare that we begged them not to do and show their arrogance. Even O saying police acted “stupidly”.

It’s a fact that a large chunk of the electorate pushes these unpleasantries right out of their little minds as soon as it happens.

Counter to that is what our talkers (Rush and Levin especially) do so well. Line up the sound bites of

Obama
Biden (remember him?)
Reid
Schumer
Rangel
Pelosi
Wasserman
Sharpton
Barney's Frank
etc

and play them over and over.
