The son who committee suicide...because thecase "went away"..ALL the money he "earned", his family was allowed to keep, and over $ 50 million in "loans" he took from the firm also "went away"..not clawed back..

Since the widow, (Ruth's daughter in law) is now very wealthy, there's nothing to prevent her from using that wealth fro Ruth's benefit and lifestyle.

One other thought. Anyone of Bernie's position and wealth would probably have a coniderable amout of life insurance...mainly for liduidity and estate planning reasons. I wonder who're the beneficiaries, and if they thought he wouldn't last 6 moths in prision..

One of the news accounts of the son’s suicide indicated he was despondent b/c he couldn’t get a job.

The family took millions out of the scheme——but they lived a high lifestyle-—several homes, and credit cards in constant motion.

Ruth’s shopping is legendary——$3M in personal spending on one American Express card alone.

She’s described as a shopaholic who, days after Bernie’s arrest, seemed to have just one concern: whether a $4,000 garment she’d bought in Palm Beach had been altered and shipped.

Bernie also loved to shop—he collected pricey antique watches. He bought $1000 sport coats in a Palm Beach clothing store.
