Rapper could face charges tied to flash mob calls, the Associated Press reports.
The Game is alleged to have sent a message from his Twitter social networking account that resulted in hundreds of calls to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Compton station, effectively shutting down communications for over two hours.
The authorities are not amused. A sheriffs captain reports Public safety was absolutely compromised and they were delayed in responding to calls. Theyre going to turn over their assessment to the District Attorney for potential criminal prosecution.
If The Game is prosecuted, there are other Californians who should also face criminal charges for compromising public safety. From Fox News:
[D]etails emerged of Bay Area Rapid Transit officials' decision to cut off underground cellphone service for a few hours at several stations Thursday. Commuters at stations from downtown to near the city's main airport were affected as BART officials sought to tactically thwart a planned protest over the recent fatal shooting of a 45-year-old man by transit police.
Thats more than delaying call responsethats preventing calls in the first placeand doing it to preempt rights and for self-serving reasons. They not only won't allow you to protect yourself, they won't allow you to call them for help.
Add to this the realities that California is a may issue state, meaning may not is more likely the case for non-Only Ones who are not among the connected elite, and that the same police who will ruin your life if they catch you with an unpermitted gun carried for personal protection have no legal duty to protect you.

many of the police are corrupt because of indian gaming, the attendant illegal drugs and prostitution.
We have been indoctrinating kids for the last 30 years to depend on the 911 system. The leftists dream is for a nanny state with complete control over everyone’s lives. 911 is a resource, but no substitute for self reliance. During natural disasters, riots, terrorist or other threats, the system becomes overloaded almost immediately.
Responsible citizens should be encouraged to own, train with, and carry firearms. Our society is at risk. Keeping the peace during times of trouble is going to be fall on the shoulders of all responsible citizens. The criminals know how flimsey the 911 system is and will take advantage of any opportunity they have when they sense that they can victimize others without risk to themselves. Armed repsonsible citizens are a solid deterent to chaos when the system becomes overwhelmed.
Nice that a weakness in the 911 system was discovered - one that can easily exploited. Those who participated should be fined. Than again folks in that area don't pay fines like the rest of us - maybe the fine should be added to their phone bills.
And increasing funding for the system so that it has enough capacity to respond to city-wide emergencies is unworkable in today's budget climate. What's needed is a bunch of people who are available to deal with emergencies, but in normal times go about their regular jobs -- what used to be called the militia.
A poster at Belmont Club had a good observation:
To many Americans the Second Amendment has always been interpreted as a mechanism for the citizens to be able to revolt against a government that oppresses them. This is true, but it really misses or deflects the point. An armed citizenry can defend itself, as is their right to do. When the government is allowed to take a total monopoly on the use of force they dont have to actively oppress you. They can let the barbarians do that and cow you by their intentional failure to protect you. You want police protection do you? You dirty peasants didnt pass the last bond issue to raise the salaries of the public servants so we are going to quit responding to petty things like burglaries. That will teach you. And dont dare hurt a burglar, or you will go to jail.
Do you see the pattern?
They don't pay their phone bills either. Perhaps the free cell phones handed out to the welfare class should be restricted to very basic service: no ability to send text messages, no internet capability. And welfare type who need internet access should get it only at their local library.
Many of the police are corrupt because the job attracts power-hungry people (in addition to people who genuinely want to serve the community). Gambling, drugs, and prostitution are just the paths of least resistance.
I couldn’t agree more with you or the person you quoted at the Belmont Club more. Obama, his cronies and many in state and local governments are looking for any excuse to grab more power and take away more of our freedoms. Encouraging over-reliance on government programs and local authorities is one way to get this accomplished.
