The Barbarians Inside Britain's Gates
The Wall Street Journal Opinion ^ | August 15,2011 | THEODORE DALRYMPLE

"There are people here with nothing," this rioter continued: nothing, that is, except an education that has cost $80,000, a roof over their head, clothes on their back and shoes on their feet, food in their stomachs, a cellphone, a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, an electric stove, heating and lighting, hot and cold running water, a guaranteed income, free medical care, and all of the same for any of the children that they might care to propagate.

But while the rioters have been maintained in a condition of near-permanent unemployment by government subvention augmented by criminal activity, Britain was importing labor to man its service industries. You can travel up and down the country and you can be sure that all the decent hotels and restaurants will be manned overwhelmingly by young foreigners; not a young Briton in sight (thank God).

The reason for this is clear: The young unemployed Britons not only have the wrong attitude to work, for example regarding fixed hours as a form of oppression, but they are also dramatically badly educated. Within six months of arrival in the country, the average young Pole speaks better, more cultivated English than they do.

The icing on the cake, as it were, is that social charges on labor and the minimum wage are so high that no employer can possibly extract from the young unemployed Briton anything like the value of what it costs to employ him. And thus we have the paradox of high youth unemployment at the very same time that we suck in young workers from abroad.

“The Barbarians Inside Britain’s Gates”

For Britain, it may already be too late.

Not one of the “major” parties — NOT ONE — will do anything to halt Britain’s slide towards dystopia and anarchy. The “middle” and “left” parties will coddle the rioters, while Britain’s so-called “conservatives” will twiddle their thumbs, fret, whine, complain, and then do..... nothing.

The only political parties that recognize the dangers and possess the will to do what is needed to save Britain are the BNP and the EDL (English Defense League). Of course, they are marginalized by everyone else as “extreme right wing”, “fascistic”, etc.

For some time, I foolishly believed that as the rest of Western Europe collapsed, at least the English would have the gumption and stiff-upper-lipped grit to hold on and fight as long as they could. Boy, was I wrong about that one.

It now appears that as Western Europe’s dominoes teeter, it may be the Brit one to topple first.

And that is a bad portent for the remainder of the English-speaking world. What is it about us that causes us to retreat and collapse in the face of anarchy and accusations of “racism”?

Just wonderin’....

British law requires its citizens to depend on the police for their defense...except for running away, it is illegal to defend yourself/home/business.

British youth have now figured out that if they overwhelm the system that they can do what they want with almost no risk of any kind. And since anything resembling Christian morality is no longer taught to liberal youths, there is no incentive whatsoever for rioters to stop rioting/robbing.

This is a perfect example of how the right to bear arms is the backbone of civil society. If the British people are not allowed to defend themselves and their property, with guns, the collapse of British society is imminent.

Barbarians at the gates - I’ve said for years that the US is raising our own barbarians. Check the headlines on Drudge; we’re not far behind Britain.

England was once a Christian nation that sent missionaries of the Gospel around the world. The same leftist forces that we see here came in with an Agenda. Their Agenda bore the fruit you see; both here, and in England.

One thing not mentioned in the article is the high rate of out immigration of Britain of those young workers from Britain. Meaning, alot of British born citizens who are educated and want to work immigrate to other countries because Britain has no opportunities for them. Hard to succeed when your best and brightest youth move away...

What is it?

It’s socialism, leftism, multiculturalism. The left has taken over one by one every institution to advance their radical agenda and no one has stopped them. This is the end result of this dystopia of the mind. Everything the left supports is harmful to society and the well being of the nation. They are truly an intellectual, moral and political blight on the world. They must be driven from every perch of power they inhabit.
