This one is particularly awful. It happened in September of last year.

The other problem is monkey see, monkey do. With the lack of law enforcement action, the publicity will encourage others to do the same. That’s not good for Montgomery County or the nation.

Ok, most of you guys aren't really getting this.

And you are? Pathetic.

To clarify my above post, though not a flash mob attack, it’s another instance of the police waiting for the perps to finish their crime before they (the police) act.

FIFY.

This is heading straight to real violence when the citizens fight back and some of the feral animals die!

Citizens will be arrested, anger up and the real war will begin!

“What’s the difference if it’s done by one person or 20 people?”

Well, there is a huge difference due to the intimidation factor, which is a key modus operandi of these black assaults, whether they be physical, fiscal, or both.

Great argument. The fact is this article is sloppily written and a lot of people are reacting emotionally.

Let me ask you a question. Let's assume you carry concealed. Now let's say you were in this store as this group entered and began removing property and walking out. Would you be justified in opening fire?

Of course not. Your life was never in any real danger. Yet people here are equating this incident with Wisconsin and Philly. Emotional responses. The law, however, sees these types of incidents differently. IMHO, the law is not 'pathetic', as you put it.

Posted by thefactor: “What’s the difference if it’s done by one person or 20 people? No one was injured.”

Answer from one of the Founders, specifically Thomas Paine:
“Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property... Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.” - Thoughts on Defensive War, 1775

“When gunpowder speaks, beasts obey.” GG

Note: Gunpowder speaks a language understood by beasts of all species, whether on two legs or four legs.

There is no such thing as a fiscal assault. It's theft or larceny. You can't attach inflammatory language where they are not appropriate. Especially when it comes to legal terms.

In an earlier post I said that it is absolutely more intimidating when crimes are committed by a group, but in terms of monetary damage this crime was relatively small unless we hear otherwise. No property damage, no injuries.

the officer refused to investigate the crime, and only viewed this incident as shoplifting.

Hey, they also didn't pay the sales tax for the items they looted! Let the IRS know about this, and the feds will be on them for tax evasion!! /sar

If you were in this store while this happened and you drew a firearm you would have been absolutely wrong.

(I am assuming that the youths entered, removed property, and left the store).

Your assessment of risk is, IMHO, in need of revision. The reasoned and prudent citizen not only has a CCW permit, but keeps a long gun in the car..

A handgun is what one relies upon to get back to one’s rifle or shottie. 30 round magazines are commonly available for rifles, and shotties can easily be obtained with 20 round drums, 12 round stick magazines, etc.

Under American law in most jurisdictions, if a death occurs from a flash mob, the entire mob can be charged with murder, not just the trigger-puller.

Yes I can.

This is not a court of law.

My description of the crime in its palpable intent and result was highly apropos.

Addendum to my post #74 - In Texas, the saying was “One riot, one Texas Ranger.”

In Texas, the Rangers are armed and in no mood to be abused by a mob.

An interesting post, bringing forth numerous avenues of discussion.

What if the person in the store was white, elderly, and in fear of serious injury or death at the hands of a mob of criminal blacks?

Factor in the Americans With Disabilities Act and legislation regarding abusing the frail elderly and your reply may not be as accurate as you assume.

In light of what I have briefly mentioned, may I ask what would you think about those factors?

I watched the video - did you? It seems evident that this was an organized action. Probably an organized mob action. Probably a conspiracy to commit a crime. It would be hard to argue that all of these people arrived at the store at the same time, and for the same purpose by chance.

I fail to see how this is simply shoplifting.

Would I draw on these people? Only if my life was in danger.

Let me ask you a question: Would the store owner have been justified in defending his/her property? If not, isn't it all over?

Why even try to pretend we live in a civil society?

Just wait until the police car goes past on its rounds and get 20 or 30 friends to empty the closest Stop and Go. Have at it. It would just be simple shoplifting.

Have you seen the police when they attack whites who are peaceful? They did it here in Pittsburgh for the G-8 or whatever. Some were violent, in other areas, but it was a very few people. The police, including feds fenced in the downtown area. It looked like something in a futuristic nightmare police state.

It’s a criminal matter so legal terms should at least be in the ballpark. If a guy punches another guy in the nose, it shouldn’t be called attempted murder. Hyperbole has no place in a discussion of legal matters. Call this what it is: larceny.
