Krugman: You know what this economy needs? A space alien invasion!
Hot Air ^ | August 13, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Patrick Ishmael wrote about this in the Green Room, but why should he have all the fun? Not too long ago, Dick Durbin lamented the demise of credibility for Keynesian economic proposals, but even I didn’t realize the Keynesians had become quite this desperate. Fareed Zakaria offers a strange view of economics where government seizes capital to dig ditches, refill them, and then roll around in the taxes paid by the workers who did the work while everyone winds up with nothing. Paul Krugman then doubles down on this idiocy by explaining that economic growth would be just around the corner — if only Space Invaders came to life:

The guy sounds exactly like the Freepers who insisted there was no housing bubble, and it wasn’t going to pop.

To a T.

I would be in favor of digging ditches and filling them up if Krugman was in the ditch. I would also be in favor of a space alien invasion if they could permanently abduct Krugman.

The problem that I have with economic theorists is that we have the vast parade of human history to use to judge their theories. There have been plenty of economies that have thrived with very little government interference. There ARE plenty of economies that have heavy government involvement and are basket cases.

My grandmother was far wiser about economics than is Krugman, yet was never considered for a Nobel Prize. Live withing your means. Produce something that the market wants. Don't punish the productive elements while simultaneously rewarding the non-productive, consuming elements of your economy. Apply the rules fairly, keep your currency strong. I didn't need no PhD for that. Unfortunately, Obamanomics violates all these precepts and wonders why the economy continues to falter.

So . . . it's not true that the wars we are now in (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc) is the greatest economic drag on US?

I think the space aliens were already here and administered an anal probe to Krugman to access his brain in its natural resting place and alter it.That is why he speaks Keynesian.

The thing that scares me is that we probably have high enough tech in top secret programs that we could probably “fake” an alien attack.

We could very well see a Dem in power pull a stunt like this, Of course the changes of them getting caught pulling it would be high and if found out would effectively end the Dem party.

Dear Paul,

1. If space aliens could travel the vast distances of space to attack the Earth, I doubt Earthlings would have 18 months to prepare a defense. The aliens technology would be vastly superior to anything Earthlings currently have available, or could develop in 18 months. So you fail at space science with the ‘we can over come the aliens in 18 months’ concept.

2. As with World War 2, when the Japanese attached Pearl Harbor the USA was forced to defend itself with the military currently available. We did not and could not have asked the Japanese to wait 18 months for us to get ready. So you fail at military concepts with the ‘we can over come the aliens in 18 months’ concept.

I suggest that you stick with economics, least we start to question your cognitive abilities.

PS. In fact the Earthlings would not have 18 months to defeat the Space Aliens, the New York Times would leak the Earth’s defense plan prior to that time frame thus allowing the Space Aliens to succeed.

Problem with that idea is the Space Alien hasn't been seen since the Weekly World News closed. He may have been taxed out of the galaxy by Obama.

The true Keynesians always were strange, in ways that have nothing to do with economics.

While I am perfectly able to argue with any of them over their deceptive theories, there are other aspects of the Fabian Socialist guru's perspective that are every bit as reprehensible.

Economics Of A Sociopath.
