ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain called on Pakistan to remove travel restrictions on American citizens during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.

McCain met with Gilani at his home in Islamabad Saturday, Pakistan's The Nation reported.

Relations between Pakistan and the United States have been strained and worsened after U.S. Navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in May without notifying Pakistani officials.

"Pakistan is a main ally of the United States in [the] war on terror so it should restore the old traveling system in mutual cooperation," said McCain, R-Ariz.

"Pakistan is a main ally of the United States in [the] war on terror

How long did they harbor Osama bin Ladin in style and how much did they get for selling pictures and parts of the stealth helicopter which crashed in the mission to kill bin Ladin?

Pakistan is not an ally. They may be an associate of convenience, but they are not an ally.

It bears repeating: Pakistan is not an ally.

We just look stupid when we act like they are a friendly nation.

The United States would be infinitely better off without Pakistan and John McCain.

We should try really hard to make FreeRepublic a “NO McCain, NONE of the time”, zone. The guy is irrelevant, and has nothing interesting to say. He adds nothing to the debate on ANY topic.

Actually, the United States would be better off dumping John McCain.

Pakistan is so obvioulsy our national enemy that only a nasty old curmudgeon and misanthrope like John McCain could defend it.

McCain, on the other hand is that worst of creatures - an enmey pretending to be a friend.
