You got that right. A few extra pounds? Fine. But the average weight of middle aged adults today is absurd. I know so many people who have aches and pains and are always complaining...I just look them in the eye and say “LOSE WEIGHT.” It’s not the cure for everything, but it will always help. How do I know? I’ve struggled with weight my whole life..it is a daily chore. But it’s worth it. I maintain a healthy weight and I feel good. I want to cry when I see young girls who are morbidly obeses and their lives are effected, whether they admit it or not. If an overweight girl tells you she is ok with her body, SHE IS LYING.

“I’v struggled with weight my whole life...”

It is a chore and a true struggle. I’m not sure if the article really defines “fat”.. is it twenty pounds over weight? Thirty? A 100? A lot of excess weight does destroy your knees, hips and joints. So... you and I struggle! If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be as healthy.

I haven't struggled with weight my whole life like you but I want to second what you are saying. I was always skinny and very active as a kid. While in the Marine Corps there is almost no way you can get fat. After I retired from the Corps I was older and I started to put on some pounds. I worked to get it off. Even though I wear a size 31 pair of pants I have to work at it. I hate when people say, oh it's in your genes or you don't understand you've always been skinny. That's a copout!! I have to work to maintain my weight by eating right and having an exercise regimen. Doesn't mean I don't have an ice cream cone once in a while. It means I don't eat a quart of ice cream.

I've been lucky, but wife unit has the same problem. I've told her that she has to burn more calories than she takes in. Well, the last thing she does at night is eat a bowl of ice cream and goes to bed.
