Rick Perry's Ace in the Hole: Rudy Giuliani
Fox Nation ^ | 8/15/2011 | Chris Cillizza (WaPo)

Posted on 08/15/2011 10:51:07 PM PDT by South40

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani continues to mull the possibility of a 2012 presidential bid, but his true power in the race may come if he decides against running and instead throws his support to Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The two men are good friends, and Perry was the only Republican governor in the country to endorse Giuliani’s presidential campaign in 2008.

Maybe people forget that Rudy is pro PARTIAL BIRTH abortion. He’s discussed it many times with Sean Hannity, so it should be public knowledge.

This is an old cartoon, so don't forget to add the "Anti-Communist Health Care" and "Pro-Communist Health Care" podiums:

Perry is a terrible candidate and he would be a terrible pro-open borders president. Yet his liberal apologist supporters are working overtime to push him as a conservative.

Perry could have endorsed pro-life Duncan Hunter, he could he endorsed pro-life Mike Huckabee and he could have endorsed pro-life Fred Thompson. Heck, he could have held his nose and endorsed pro-life Juan McCain. But he chose to endorse PRO-ABORTION Rudy Giuliani instead.

Two peas in a pod.

Some could have forgotten and some could just not care. I think the majority of his supporters just don't care.

If Sarah announces, she gets 2 checks from me, one for 20.12 and one for 2016. Suck that Chris.

And let's not forget...

Perry is for open borders,
Perry opposed Arizona's SB 1070 saying, "I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona". Even if he didn't think it was 'right for Texas', when Obama and the left were attacking AZ over the issue conservatives sided with AZ, open borders Perry did not.
Rick Perry opposed Obama’s stimulus plan but took billions in stimulus money to balance the Texas budget,
Perry was hand-picked by Karl Rove and is an establishment Republican.
He does not deserve the support of the conservative base.

"I don't think he talks like a conservative, he just says he is one. "

He's NOT a Conservative. I have very mixed feelings about his candidacy. On the pro side- He's done a great job for Texas for 10 plus years, governing as a financial conservative. He has the appeal, gravitas, whatever to whip the crap out of Buckwheat, as well as the money. He CAN and WILL win the primary and the election. On the Con side- I have a close, trusted relative, whom I refuse to identify, who worked for Perry closely, and he hates him. He says that Perry has surrounded himself with thugs, just like obama. He says Perry IS JUST LIKE obama. For myself, I find Perry to be very scary, but still better than obama.

I can't see it. From what I've read these past few days he'll be an easy target for his opponents and the press. His past cannot withstand the scrutiny it is sure to get.

Perry’s speeches make GW Bush sound like a sissy.

But of course the Perry record doesn’t match the tough rhetoric.

I hope Palin runs, and wins, and I will support her. I will support Bachmann if Palin doesn’t run. But if Perry wins the nomination as I believe he will, I probably will have to support him. Dumping Buckwheat is the main priority.

PRO-ABORTION Rudy Giuliani WAS TOAST when Florida didn’t come through for him.

What a dumb pick anyway, and what conservative Evangelica would choose a pro-abortion candidate to endorse? Or is Governor Perry a Methodist like pro-abortion former First Lady Laura Bush?

Since you brought it up... what is Perry's stance on illegals and border control?

The "big sin" he's associated with is a Texas dream law 10 years ago which passed with veto proof majorities. It was tightened in 2005 by unanimous consent of the legislature and a repeal bill never even made it out of committee this term. Here's an FR thread explaining the Texas dream law.

Perry's signed bills against human trafficking (HB 1372, 4008 & SB 11 of '07), on increased border security (probably the Rangers on the border he's mentioned; HB1 of '07), for tougher employer sanctions (HB 1196 of '07), on document fraud (HB 126 of '07) and signed Voter ID. Source: http://www.txcc.org/illegal-immigration & Reuters (Voter ID signing)

As he mentioned in the Waterloo, IA Q&A Sunday, he did send Rangers to the border: Texas governor sends Rangers to Mexico border (2009)

He also mentioned arial assets on the border:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry says Predator drones should patrol Texas border (2009)

Texas gets a second aerial drone for border security (2011)

He's not for amnesty or "pathway to citizenship" as a reward:

In A December 2006 editorial, Gov. Perry wrote: "I would rather know who is crossing our border legally to work instead of not knowing who is crossing our border illegally to work. A guest worker program that provides foreign workers with an ID removes the incentive for millions of people to illegally enter our country. It also adds those workers to our tax base, generates revenue for needed social services and it can be done without providing citizenship." and "Along with millions of Americans, I think it is wrong to reward those who broke our laws with citizenship ahead of those who have followed the law and are waiting to enter this country legally. And like millions of Americans I do not support amnesty." (Emphasis mine.)

Source: http://governor.state.tx.us/news/editorial/10326/

He's a critic of E-Verify's lack of impact on Texas but it is used in thousands of Texas business although not required. However, Texas does require and use the I-9 "employment eligibility" forms which is where E-Verify is supposed to take its info. So in a real sense Texas already verifies eligibility, and under Perry it became harder on employers who violate the law and those who provide documents to defraud employers. Hutchison says Texas state doesn't use E-Verify to weed out undocumented workers applying for jobs (PolitiFact, 2010)

A mandatory E-Verify bill failed to pass the Texas legislature this year Business leaders say mandatory ‘E-Verify’ plan would harm small businesses (2011)

Perry also got a ban on driver's licenses for illegals through too (SB 1). ID measure passed quietly, while sanctuary cities bill died noisily

A bill banning "sanctuary cities," added by Perry to the recent special session, passed the Senate but failed in the Texas House. Same story as above: ID measure passed quietly, while sanctuary cities bill died noisily

Gee. Look at that! Old open borders RINO Rick, Governor Goodhair. He's never done anything about illegal immigration or border control. /s

An organization the Dallas Morning News calls a "Texans for Public Justice, a liberal Austin watchdog group" has a "primer" report out on Perry http://info.tpj.org/reports/pdf/perryprimer.fin.pdf (Acrobat PDF)

(short digression) I have suddenly realized why Obama went from state legislator to Senator to President: it's the IDEAL pathway to avoid scrutiny, to avoid a paper trail of having to make real decisions, major appointments or most anything that might cast suspicion and reach the White House. In that sense, he's a perverse genius.

I know more about Perry than I know about most family members and he's been a candidate about 3 days. Obama? You can't ask! That's racist! (apologies for digressing.)

I'd be careful throwing the word "thugs" around. We certainly know what that means with Obama. His administration is dripping with Chicago crime family knee-cappers.

I found to resign for endorsing Kay Bailey Hutchison. That may have been to score points for Kay Bay or maybe it was a little bit of "hardball," who knows. I didn't find any follow-up. Other personnel changes I saw were routine.

I read a piece linked from that TPJ "watchdog" report. It was written by Dallas Morning News about a land deal Perry made and the crap they pile in there to make it sound more scandalous is amusing including mentioning some Dem donor's dead father's ex-business partner paid kickbacks to Saddam Hussein. Then there's something about a guy having an airplane used for an arms deal in a conflict that killed thousands or something. None of it had anything to do with the land sale. It was pretty amusing and written like juvenile literature.

It's obvious from the TPJ primer and hit pieces on Perry already coming out in the national press, the Left is leading with their old "Republican politicians are rich, corrupt, amoral wheeler dealers" template.

(When does Obama get vetted?)

Just a nice little bump to you after Perry bashing Haley for endorsing Romney.

RINOs, all of them.
